Despite being located in a big, wide-open space, the diner from the outside looks like a trolley and its small diner space gives it a homely feeling. There is plenty of parking available next to the diner and it is also located right next to a local bar so you can grab a drink once you are done eating.
The food is dirt cheap at Danny's diner. I went once to Danny's with a friend of mine who ordered a steak dinner. I fully expected the dinner to come to a total for him of more than $20 but I was shocked when the total came to $12. My friend not only ordered steak, but his meal also came with mash potatoes, gravy and garlic bread. It was definitely a great deal for the $12 he paid and he was full by the end of his meal. Most of the food prices are in fact pretty cheap compared with other restaurants.
However, other food items on the menu are very small in portion sizes. I ordered a tuna sandwich on a toasted bagel, which tasted good but the size of the sandwich was so small that I finished it in about two or three bites. The sandwich was still relatively cheap so I could have ordered another sandwich but I didn't want to wait longer for more food. The actual menu itself for Danny's diner is not that big but they have all the food you would want out of a diner. Their most common menu items are for lunch and dinner. Their breakfast options, which most diners have a large selection of, are limited in scope.
The inside of the diner is old fashioned as well, with the grill and oven being placed right inside for customers to see. All the food is cooked right in front of you. The overall size of the diner's staff is very small with only 2 cooks and one or two waitresses. The people who work at the diner have lived in the city of Binghamton their entire lives and have regular customers who come to grab a bite to eat and just to chat about local news and gossip. If your in the Binghamton area and want dirt cheap food at a good price, feel free to check out Danny's diner.
