Dark Moon

David Lanier
So here we are again, on the edge.
The rain is drawing a cold curtain
between the living and the dead.
The daylight is waning
as the moon grows darker.
It was a strange choice
for a night to make magic.
A good night for death,
for all endings to flourish.
But, to create something,
anything, in the face
of such darkness was brazen,
to say the least.
We have been known
to be bold, but sometimes
weeks pass without
such acts of courage.
To remind us that we
can live on the edge,
to remind us,
that the moon is on our side.
