I dread the dark nights ahead,
yet I must face all of my fears.
I'll not cower under the blankets,
as the scary midnight hour nears.
I cannot put this off any longer,
I must face the demons tonight.
No more running away to hide,
I refuse to give in to my fright.
Once the darkness finally arrives,
the eerie whispers will soon follow.
This time I will chase them away,
my terror I will bravely swallow.
I will banish all of the demons,
no longer let them rule my life.
I will be happy and free at last, not overcome by worry and strife.
