Dark Water

Shirley A Mandel
The same sea
that sparkles in the sun
grows dark and restless
under the shadow of a cloud.

And such stormy seas
can swallow whole ships.

Oh Lord,
my own ship has been swallowed
by dark water.

But I remember St. Paul.
His ship went down too,
but he himself,
and all poor souls aboard,
were saved.

Save me, Jesus,
from my dark water.

"Restore the joy of my salvation, Lord."

Where the presence
of the Lord is
there is hope.

There is sunshine.

There is peace.

There is sparkle
on the water.
