Darkness Falls for Russell, Jones Rapper (Ol'Dirty Bastard)

Russell Tyrone Jones stage name Ol' Dirty Bastard (ODB) was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 15, 1968. He was established in his hip hop career with Wu Tang Clan an all male Rap group. Eventually ODB decided to become an solo rap artist that was very successful for him. ODB's rap career became very distracted because of his life off the stage and his strange behavior. Many legal troubles followed him it was always rumored that he would take part in the use of street drugs and constantly made poor judgments. Convicted of second degree assault in New York in 1993. The following year in 1994 he was shot in the stomach, but his injuries wasn't life threatening. He was also arrested in 1997 for failure to comply with a child support court order.

It has been rumored for years that ODB had about 13 children. Trouble still continued to chase him when he was robbed and shot in his back in Brooklyn Apartments. Once again his injuries was not serious. Several days later he was arrested for shoplifting a pair of sneakers. Later the rapper was arrested for terrorist threats in California at a concert. Back in New York he was pulled over for traffic violation, and it was claimed by police that he got out and started shooting at them, charging him with attempted murder and possession of a firearm. However the police never did obtain evidents to convict him on the charges. Several weeks later he was stopped for another traffic violation when the cops discovered marijuana and crack cocaine, charging him with drug possession. Despite all the troubles surrounding him, he still continue to pursue his rap career. After serving prison time leaving all of his troubles behind him, he quickly signed with Roc-a-Fella Records.

Many people in authority looked at the rapper as a troublesome person, but despite all of what they thinks, he still had a heart. The media never press the issue of the good things and how much of a hero he was to some of his friends and fans. When Russell aka ODB and some of his friends witnessed a traffic accident outside of a recording studio where a little four year old girl was hit and pinned underneath a vehicle OBD and his friends quickly rushed over to lift the vehicle up off her and saved her life. It had been told by the media that ODB had used a false identity so the media wouldn't be in his business and turn in out to be something else. The media most of the times makes famous people out to be the bad guys no matter what goodness you do, and considering that he already had a bad name in the media you don't stand a chance with the press being a hero.

As time passes ODB continued to work on his new album under Roc-a-Fella Records. On November 13, 2004 inside the studio while working on his upcoming album he suddenly collapsed and less than nine hours later Mr. Russell Jones (ODB) was pronounced dead at the scene ending his life at age 36. It was later announced that the cause of death was a drug overdose. Mr. Russell Jones will forever be missed by his family, friends and fans.
