Darlene's Flower & Gifts in Flat Rock, Michigan Review

As someone who loves to support small businesses I was thrilled to be able to locate Darlene's Flowers & Gifts in Flat Rock, Michigan when I was searching for a place to deliver for my sister's 18th birthday. I had located them online as I do not live in the area. I purchased a candy gift basket with a balloon being that my sister is not a girly-girl this was perfect for her. I purchased this small candy gift basket with delivery to the tune of $47 and some change. I had requested that the candy gift basket from Darlene's Flowers & Gifts be delivered to the local high school to surprise my sister on her special day.

Once I had placed the order via Darlene's Flowers & Gifts website I did receive a confirmation email that let me know my order which was placed 4 days prior to the delivery date was received. I never thought about it again because I felt my purchase was in good hands and that everything would be fine. That was my mistake and let me tell you why.

Come Friday the day that Darlene's Flowers & Gifts was scheduled to deliver my purchase by 1pm it never happened and they never called to let me know. I waited until 2:30 pm to call them being as I had yet to hear from my sister about it but of course she was in school. The phone was answered after six rings by the store owner herself.

I then inquired about my purchase and the time it was delivered. I was told it was going out the door right now as we were speaking. This was an hour and a half AFTER the time it was to be delivered and my sister was no longer in school. I was not a happy customer to say the least. What added to my frustration was the fact that the store owner could not own up to the mistake she had made. I was given excuses about other orders and was told it could easily be delivered to my sister's home. I was well aware that it could be delivered to her home but had wanted to make her day special since a person only turns 18 once and have it delivered to her school.

I expressed to the store owner how disappointed I was. How I had paid over $47 and ordered my purchase 4 days ahead of time. The store owner was more concerned with the fact that she only received $42 and some change rather than $47. Come to find out the processing company she goes through for her website has a handling fee of $4.99 which is to be expected. In the end after letting her know that I was very disappointed in the fact that she had allowed this mistake to happen, had not made contact with me when the mistake was discovered and was unable to own up to the mistake she did refund my money.

Sadly, this mistake means that my sister did not receive her gift basket as planned. As a customer I will never contact Darlene's Flowers & Gifts in Flat Rock, Michigan ever again and caution others to avoid it as well, especially for time sensitive orders. Every business owner should know that no matter what size purchase is made each and every customer is important and Darlene's Flowers & Gifts has missed the mark.
