The sides are expected to sign the contract on Monday, which should get Revis on the field in time for the Ravens vs. Jets game next Monday. That will change the entire outlook of that opening game for these New York Jets, and basically shuts down one side of the field for the Ravens. If Revis has made sure to keep up with his personal conditioning drills, then he will probably be able to walk on to the field at full speed. That is exactly what the Jets and their fans want to see, especially after a preseason where they had to face the prospect of possibly playing the 2010 season without him.
Last season the New York Jets barely squeaked into the NFL Playoffs, but then they surprised many football fans when they made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts. That has really raised expectations for the team this season, propelled even further by their "Hard Knocks" show, which is giving everyone a look behind the scenes with this team. With more attention on this team than ever, nothing less than a Super Bowl berth will help this team achieve their lofty goals. The Jets vs. Ravens game gets things started on Monday night football on Sept. 13.
Hopefully things get back to business easily for both sides, and there is no ill-will after Revis held out for the second time from the Jets. His holdout reached 35 days, and some were guessing that he might end up sitting out the whole 2010 season just to make sure he hammered home his point. Now that distraction has been quelled, it's time to get down to business in New York. Can this New York Jets team win the AFC and make it past the defending champion Indianapolis Colts? We will soon find out the answer to that question.
