Rivals.com ranks Darren Arndt the fifth best player in West Virginia and the top defensive end in the state. The Martinsburg, West Virginia Senior is the top player on a power house team which has one their league two seasons in a row and five times since 2003 according to Maxpreps. Arndt should benefit from Martinsburg's schedule which features four teams from Northern Virginia and two teams from Maryland which should give him some additional exposure.

Strengths:

Darren Arndt plays for one of the top high schools in West Virginia. He is smart and has a 3.8 GPA. Darren has a good frame at 6'3 and 235lbs to build on. Rivals.com ranks Arndt as a two star prospect. Big name schools are interested in Darren and believe he can play at the top college level.

Weaknesses:

Darren plays in West Virginia which Rivals.com Mike Farrell states "it's hard for prospects to get noticed in West Virginia." At 235lbs Darren is not a huge lineman. Like a lot of high school players he could benefit from adding to his frame.

His Future:

Barring injury, Darren Arndt and the Martinsburg Bulldogs should have a great season. Arndt earned all-area and all-state as a junior and expectations are for him to do it again as a senior. Darren has solid academics and big schools are interested in him. Rivals.com states West Virginia, Marshall, Virginia Tech, and Penn State are interested in Arndt. Scout.com agrees with West Virginia, Penn State and Virginia Tech's interest. However, their list includes North Carolina and Pittsburgh. Another strong season should help Darren draw more attention. If Arndt continues to grow, gets stronger, and improves his speed he could become a bigger prospect attracting more college recruiters. The teams interested in Darren all have some history of success and Darren would be competing against some of the best teams in the nation.
