Darryl Worley's Patriotic "Have You Forgotten" Spawned Radio Success

While Worley Didn't Quite Hit Superstar Status, His Album's Title Track Sure Did

The success of Darryl Worley's "Have You Forgotten" single and extreme public demand for it pushed up the release of Worley's third album, Have You Forgotten.

Obviously a smart marketing move by Dreamworks Nashville, the album contains four new tracks, as well as favorites off his last two discs, I Miss My Friend and Hard Rain Don't Last . So, basically, a new Worley fans can purchase one album and also get a taste of his pre-"Have You Forgotten" days. Smart move on account of Dreamworks! Expose fans to all his music at once.

The album cuts rights to the chase and kicks off with the song, most likely behind the purchase of the disc, "Have You Forgotten." If one has not heard this song, and/or read about it in the papers and news magazines, then they must be living under a big rock.

Of the new tracks, it is "I Need a Breather" that stands out the most. The upbeat, rousing song has a bit of a beach theme, complete with the steel drums, a similar feel to Garth Brook's "Two Pina Coladas." Who doesn't need a relaxing time at the beach with some sweet libations after a long week at work? "I might have a drink, and I might fall down..." and "...some coconut lotion and a chair by the ocean..." are some of the fun lyrics to this fun summer-time romp.

"Shiloh" is new ballad reminding us about those who fight for our freedoms goes back much further than recent history, taking place in the Civil War days. Other new tracks include "I Will Hold My Ground," a song with a similar meaning as "Forgotten," although in a more personal level. The midtempo song talks about standing up for what you believe in.

Keeping with the salute to America's soldiers, "POW," from Worley's sophomore album appears again. Probably has a little more meaning now, than in it's original release.

The extremely catchy and totally countrified "Tennessee Rive Run" is a song from I Miss My Friend that never made it as a single, but perhaps will off this new album. It's just a fun take-me-to-the-river-so-we-can-party-on-the-water song, probably reminiscent of his own Tennessee upbringing. . With a line like, "...Cajun sausage on a hot dog bun..." how can you go wrong?

Still, some or Worley's best tracks on the album are those that have already been released, like "I Miss My Friend" and his debut single, "When You Need My Love." And perhaps, those that weren't singles before will have new life breathed into them. If one does not own a Worley CD yet, this album is a good buy! You'll get his new stuff, as well as old favorites all on one CD.

  • The song "Have You Forgotten" reminded America of 9-11
  • The album contains tracks from Worley's first two albums, too.
Worley was inspired to write the title track after playing on a USO tour for the troops.

Thanks. The first time I heard "Have You Forgotten" I was at home, good thing because I chocked. My brother was in the Harbor across from where the planes hit. The song made me REMEMBER where he was and how so many lives were changed in one cowardly act. Like you, Darle Worley, I want to reach over a smack people when they say that 9-11 is just another day. My 2 sons and I every year take a moment to pray for those lost and the brave people that did their best to help. Your song "I Just Came Back From A War" helps to serve as a remider that it's not over til it's over.

I honestly didn't know "who" did this song but I remember crying the first time I heard it. I'll have to check out more of his work. Thanks for sharing!
