Data Recovery: Maybe Not on Your Own

Missing data? There is usually only one thing to do which is to use data recovery to recover the missing data. It's a very complicated process. It is possible that you would need expert help regarding the matter. Hard drives are very complex machines with fragile components in them. More often than not, only trained people should be attempting to go inside the physical bowels of a hard drive.

Usually, just like when you send your computer for repair, a trained technician will have a look at your hard drive then inform you of the problem & cost. Don't be surprised when you are mentioned about the high cost. You may as well try to bargain the price or go to another data recovery specialist. Just don't try to do it your self because there is the risk that the data will be unrecoverable by the data recovery specialist after your attempt.

How about a software based disk repair utility? Should you use one in case the data on your hard drive cannot be accessed? In case you are just about to do it, then maybe you should place your finger as far away from the GO, RUN, START, or etc button. The software will probably write to the disk, overwriting current data that you want recovered. Yes, so let's just forget about data recovery using a hard disk repair software utility. We are trying to recover data & not to make things more difficult.

Let the Trained Data Recovery Technicians Do the Hard Work

People who do not know how to work the innards of the computer's hard drive by hand is not recommended to be opening the device in an attempt to recover data. A careless hand can easily scratch hard disk platter's surface & result in the data being lost without any hope of recovery. The innards of the hard drive, namely the platters and the actuator arm move at very fast speeds hence the need for perfection in its assembly.

Tampering with the drive & attempting to rebuild the drive on one's own amateurish capability will likely cause a device malfunction. Trained technicians at the data recovery specialist shop work with hard drives everyday & know how to dissemble & reassemble the hard drive efficiently. Leave the hard work to the trained technicians as your data can be recovered faster & without any fuss.

Forget about Cracking Open a Hard Drive to Recover Data

Perhaps you are the type of person who built your own pc by buying separate pc components & then assembling the plug n play pieces on your own. One day, hopefully it does not happen to you; under some bizarre circumstance, your hard disk just dies. Perhaps then, you ponder about recovering your data & opening up your computer's hard disk. Worse, you may think that you can take it apart & rebuild it. Sorry to sound pessimistic but it's really not something that a non hard drive specialist should do; cracking open a hard drive.

Forget about it! Inside the hard drive, there are many small & fragile components. Unless you work at the hard disk company & have access to a dust free laboratory of sorts, then you may as well have a go at it although it would probably be a lot easier to send your hard disk to the data recovery specialist. The platters in the hard disk contain a layer of magnetized material. The layer is fragile, sensitive to debris & finger prints. Your home does not look like something the Intel lab now or is it?

How About for RAID Hard Drives Going Bonkers?

Plenty of experienced computer owners know that that their computer's hard drive will fail at some point. It may not be any when soon unless you accidentally bought a faulty device. Still, after years of usage, the hard drive going kaput is something to be expected. Data recovery ensures that you do not lose the data on your hard drive after it had gone bonkers. The best way to go about it is to take your computer's hard drive to a specialist.

The specialists can recover your data. The process may include rebuilding your computer's hard drive. How about in situations with multiple hard drives? Say you use a RAID configuration on your computer. You should have the broken hard drive replaced & checked. All of the hard drives going bonkers in a RAID or mirror configuration would mean that you would probably need to send them all to the hard drive specialist.
