Date Night Activities for Seniors

Jessica Mousseau
For many seniors, the end of a marriage through death or divorce does not mean they will never seek out or enjoy "couples time" again. Many seniors do "get back out there" after the end of a marriage, and may find themselves enjoying the "dating scene" even more because now they know what they are looking for in a partner, know what they do and don't like, and other things.

For those seniors who do decide to give love a second chance, however, comes the realization that many of the things they did on dates when they were younger just may not be feasible or even possible, and finding appropriate date night activities can seem hard. It doesn't have to be, though, if you just know where to look and what avenues to pursue. A few are mentioned in this article.

Don't rule out movies.

Many of the movies being made today appeal to all age groups. Among these are good remakes of Westerns and re-introductions of spy movies previously shown but with a new actor in the leading role (the James Bond movie "Casino Royale" with Daniel Craig playing James Bond is one example), just to name a couple. Holding hands in the theatre is one of the date night activities that know no age limit.

Attend activities specifically geared to seniors.

These can include church functions, events held at senior citizen centers, such as dances and game nights, and other things. Your local senior or community center, local church announcements, newspapers, and other places can give you information on senior activities that can be easily turned into date night activities.

Go out to dinner.

Like holding hands in the theatre, eating out has no age limits. Many restaurants have senior menus and prices, even when it isn't "early bird special" time, so you don't have to worry about your date night activities having to take place while the sun is still shining.

These are just a few suggestions. Together, you and your date can come up with date night activities that you will both enjoy.
