June 19: Recess at Work Day! Share that one with your boss! You have a few days to plan what type of recess things you can do.
June 19 is also World Sauntering Day. I looked up exactly what this day meant. It means no jogging, running, sashaying, fast walking, or trotting. On World Sauntering Day we are to take our time and walk to bring back Victorian Sauntering. Sounds like a day we all could use in this fast-paced world!
June 20 Summer Begins! Which makes me think of boating, swimming in the sunshine, warm breezes, campfires and lemonade.
June 20 is also Take Your Dog to Work Day. I guess I was a little early bringing our Teddy Bear puppy to work last week Thursday. If you can get permission from your boss, what a lovely way to reduce stress for employees. Also, bring up moral even if it is for a short break.
June 21 is Baby Boomers Recognition Day. That will be a lot of people to recognize!
June 22 Descendants Day.
June 22 Stupid Guy Thing Day. Okay ladies! Write away! Guys I am sure you can think of some things to write that we would enjoy reading.
June 23 Let It Go Day. I bet all of us have something we need to free our spirits of.
June 24 Celebration of the Senses. Bake bread. Walk in the rain. Smell a flower. Listen to relaxing music. Eat a slice of your warm baked bread with melted butter.
June 25 Korean War Began: Anniversary since 1950. Share some memories.
June 26 is National Handshake Day. Being a germ phobe this would bring up dirty hands to me!
June 27 is National HIV Testing Day. Get to the doctor to make sure you are healthy.
June 28 is the Great American Backyard Campout. Spend time with your loved ones and enjoy the great outdoors!
June 29 until July 5 is Freedom from Fear of Speaking Week. Wow, this gets an entire week! A lot of us would benefit from curing this.
June 29 is Log Cabin Day. My parents have a log cabin in northern Wisconsin. We may have to plan a trip around this date.
June 29 is also Special Recognition for Disabled Day. Visit someone and do a kind act for them if you wish.
There are also celebrations for the month of June.
Effective Communications Month to say it and say it well.
International Men's Month. Well, too bad my husband did not know this until the month is half over!
June Dairy Month. I knew this one being from Wisconsin and living by a few farms.
June is also Perennial Gardening Month. Get out and plant your flowers. I have one more large flower pot to plant out by our fire pit and wooden bench.
June is Turkey Lovers' Month. How about trying a deep fried turkey. They are the best tasting meat you've ever tried!
Do you play the accordion? It is National Accordion Awareness Month. I work part-time and on call to a nursing home in the Activities Department. One of the gentleman played his accordion for us very well. You should have seen the smile on his wife's face. Priceless.
I am all on this celebration being a sugar fiend: National Candy Month!
Make some sun tea as it is National Iced Tea Month. I have always wanted to try the flavored caffeine-free teas in the sun. I would like to see how they keep their cinnamon flavor or whatever type of tea bags you use. To make: Fill glass pitcher with water and ten to twelve tea bags. If desired add sugar to your taste. Drink over ice. Enjoy.
Give your wife or mother a rose as it is National Rose Month. One long-stemmed rose is a lovely gesture.
Go over safety rules with your children as it is National Safety Month.
Try a new recipe for National Soul Food Month.
Get to the doctor for your annual check up or any health issues that have been of concern for you. Make an appointment for a loved one if they will not do it themselves for Professional Wellness Month.
A big one is Rebuild Your Life Month. That will give you something to ponder.
