Dating in Detroit: 3 Super Romantic Restaurants

Stacy J. Day
I am from the Detroit, Michigan area originally, and I miss the area a great deal. One thing that I miss aside from my family and friends are the abundance of places to shop as well as the entertainment possibilities. One thing you'll also find in this popular metro area are many great restaurants to dine at. Whatever the occasion, you are sure to be able to find the restaurant to fit the occasion or the mood. If you're looking for the perfect restaurant to enjoy a romantic dinner with someone you care for, there are three main restaurants that you and your date are bound to love. Of course the Detroit area has plenty of restaurants that would be perfect for a sharing a romantic meal, but these three are high on my list for several reasons.

Fish Bones

Located in popular Greektown, in downtown Detroit, this restaurant might be your first choice for taking a date for a romantic meal. Not only does Fish Bones offer live music that will get you and your date in the mood for dancing, but the atmosphere is very intimate - perfect for an evening of romance. Prices aren't too expensive, either, like one would expect. There aren't many entrees over $30, and many are around $20. Perhaps you and your date could even be adventurous together, if you haven't had the pleasure of eating cuisine like alligator, calamari and many other delicious and exotic seafood choices. If you or your date aren't into seafood, that wouldn't pose a huge concern at Fish Bones as they offer delectable chicken and steak meals as well, even Filet Mignon that will absolutely melt in your mouth. Be sure not to get too full from you meal, because you and your date can enjoy coffee liquor drinks with your favorite Fish Bone's dessert afterwards. Their Hot Fudge Ice Cream Puff is the absolute best in my opinion - yum!

Rain Forest Café

My sister and her boyfriend went to the Rain Forest Café in Auburn Hills at Great Lakes Crossing to celebrate their anniversary one year, and neither of them could stop talking about it. I haven't had the pleasure of personally going myself, but my sister made me feel like I was there with her high reviews and thorough description. Simply walking up to the Rain Forest Café puts a person in the mood for romance, according to my sister, with the tropical island theme. It really does look like a rain forest, which was very impressive to both my sister and her long-time boyfriend. Another thing about the Rain Forest Café that my sister and her boyfriend especially liked was the lively yet cozy atmosphere. My sister raved about the Raging Thunder Buffalo Wings that she ordered as an appetizer as well as the Parmesan Chicken Expedition that she had for her entrée. She even brought some Parmesan Chicken Expedition home, and I must admit that even leftover and reheated this dish was awesome. My sister and her boyfriend spent about $70 for their meal, including beverages, appetizer, entrée and dessert, and according to the two of them, it was very well worth it.

Kyoto Japanese Steak House

I first discovered this restaurant when my aunt took there me to celebrate my birthday one year. Although I greatly enjoyed eating at Kyoto Japanese Steak House with my aunt, I couldn't help thinking that the intimacy of the atmosphere made it a perfect place for a date. One day I actually did go there with my husband and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. He, too, liked the intimate atmosphere. Another thing that my husband and I both enjoyed was having the chef chop vegetables and cook our meals right in front of us! It was very cool, and the cute little tricks they had made things really fun - it was almost like being at a show. Their food is to die for as well, and I absolutely loved the fried rice and chicken dish that I had. The service and location were perfect as well. My husband and I spent about $50 for our entertaining and tasty meal, which was a great deal.
