Dating During a Recession: A Guide for Free or Cheap Date Ideas

A recession can affect dating in many ways. It may mean that you have to find free or cheap date ideas so that you have money to pay your bills instead of spending on entertainment. Don't worry, there are some great date ideas that are cheap and some that are even free. Your date will still be fun, exciting and romantic without having to worry about going broke.

The local park is absolutely free and is one of the most romantic and beautiful places around. If you want to have a fun date you can plan on hiking or playing basketball or playing different games like Frisbee. If you want more of a romantic date, try a picnic in the park or a romantic stroll through nature. Pack your own picnic food like sandwiches and you can keep the dater even cheaper.

Check with your local community guide and look for any free concerts. There are some cities and communities that offer free concert or even plays for residents. This is free entertainment for your date.

Cook together. Not only is this romantic and a great way to bond with your date, but it saves you money from having to go to an expensive restaurant. Cooking at home is a lot cheaper than eating out at some fancy place for your date and your home is more comfortable and more intimate.

Stay in and rent a movie. Movie theaters are so expensive nowadays. You can rent a movie and make some popcorn at home for a third of the price it would cost you at a movie theater.

Do some research and see if you have any free museums in your area. museums are a great date and most towns will have at least one free museum like the Museum of Art.

Visit the zoo together. The zoo is not as expensive as the big amusement parks but you can spend the whole day together, talking and sharing fun times.

Exercise together. If you both go tot he same gym or like to run, jog, hike or bike do it together as a great way to get in some physical exercise and have a nice date together. You could also take an inexpensive exercise class like yoga together.

Volunteer together. This is totally free and in return you are helping others. This can really show if your date is the type of person you are looking for. Places to volunteer include church activities, soup kitchens, homeless shelters and animal shelters.

Go for an ice cream date. Ice cream is cheap and you can have a fun date like when you were younger.

There are plenty more ideas for cheap or free dates, you just have to get creative. A date should be about the other person and not so much what you are actually doing.
