Dating and Relationships: Why Some Men and Women Cheat

Ties have destroyed more relationships than it has created. So, if you want to stay in a relationship, you'd better tell the truth at all times without exception. The main reason why people lie is simply to hide the truth. There may be many things that a partner would not like to be known. They range form innocent reasons to the very guilty ones. But if it is an innocent reason, why lie about it your partner will understand? Well whatever is being hidden may not be bad but the other party does not prefer it. For example, if the other party wants you to loose weight by not eating some foods then you eat them, this is not wrong but the other party would like to be kept informed. The guilty ones can be very deadly, if the other party for instance is having another relationship especially if he/she is married is very wrong.
Some lies have gone on for many years without the partner's knowledge; some men keep other families and visit them when they are supposedly, in business trips. This is betrayal of the highest manner.

Some lies are told to avoid trouble. For instance when one lies that he/she likes the meal that has been cooked and in reality it is very nauseating. This is meant to keep the relationship alive and avoid the quarrels and repercussions that would be eminent.

Fear of breaking up is another major factor to consider when it comes to lies. Revelation of the wrongs that have and are being done will probably lead to the end of the relationship. For instance if one partner is cheating on his/her partner with her best friend as in many cases, they will prefer to keep it a secret so as not to hurt the partner and sustain the relationship.

Lies also lead to other lies in order to cover for the previous lie. One lie is covered by many more lies. For instance, when someone is seeing another person, he has to lie about his whereabouts over and over again. Lies are normally told to cover for larger lies that would be devastating.

Inadequacies are one more cause of lies. If a partner is not intimate and does not fulfill the partner's sexual needs, them other people like prostitutes will fill this void. Financial shortfall will lead to quarrels and fallout in relationships. Women in most cases opt for financial security. It cannot be said that this is selfish of them for they have their children's interests and generational wealth at heart. So if a man is not financially stable, women from lower classes are the ones who usually go for them.

Shame is hidden from partners by lies. Past history that is shameful and secrecy is used for protection is a source of lies. Shameful secrets like financial scandals are kept from the partner. If the partner was gay, then he/she will keep it hidden so as to maintain a relationship with the partner of the opposite sex.

Activities that are not preferred by the other partner may lead him or her into lying in order to avoid participation in that activity. If the other party does not like going out for parties he or she will lie that there are other commitments that he/she must attend.

After the causes of lying are known, there is then the question of what to do with lying partners. There is no specific way of handling lyres, every lie has to be evaluated and a solution reached. Action should be taken promptly. Remember that forgiveness is a viable option and should be considered. All the lies that have been told should be gotten out into the open. Remember that not all people lie, build trust with time.

Then there is the question of if men lie more than women and vice versa, this is very argumentative and will be left for later discussion.
