The Do's and Don'ts of Dating

Anonymous
Arrive on Time

If you make a date with someone, be sure to arrive on time. Remember, they have a schedule and a life too. You need to take into consideration that they planned to meet you at a specific place and time. Setting a date sometimes requires one to reschedule and/or rearrange their plans to fit you in. Respect and acknowledge this factoid.

Chivalry

Always remember to treat your date right. Open doors for them, prevent them from tripping, and have awareness of your environment. Everyone notices the small things. These small gestures add up. So, you must be on good behavior, or don't expect a second date.

Etiquette

Again, the little things do matter when we first get to know someone. Always remember the simple things - eat with your mouth closed, don't curse, and don't do anything to annoy or upset the person you are spending time with. Respect is a big issue for some of us and we all notice when someone is not following proper etiquette.

Dress Ware

Women spend a fair amount of time getting ready for a date, whereas the man typically spends less. However, for both sexes, it is always important to remember what is appropriate to wear on your date. Wherever your date is planned take into account what would be appropriate for the occasion. Don't arrive in jeans and a T-shirt if you're going to some "high class" event.

Money

Yes, this issue must be mentioned! It is very important to take into consideration how much money you will likely need to go on your date. Don't show up to dinner without enough to cover yourself. Don't show up to a concert expecting her to buy you a ticket. If you're uncertain of who is paying for what, just ask. For the first date, just pay for yourself. This puts no pressure on the other person.

Hygiene

Always remember the essentials of basic hygiene. Nobody wants to go on a date with someone smelly. Remember to brush your teeth, wash your hands, fix your hair, take a shower, and shave any un-pleasant facial hair. You're going on a date and not to a Halloween party. So, don't try to scare or offend anyone.

Research

Remember writing papers back in school? Remember going into the library and reading before you wrote your paper? Just like those old school days, you should always do some basic research prior to your date. Research will keep you prepared for what to expect and how to address something unexpected.
