The thought of it can be almost overwhelming, not to mention down right scary. It's not easy to establish new relationships, especially when you've been out of practice for some time. At best you may feel a little shy, at worst you're down right terrified. However, equipped with the right information you'll be prepared for a successful comeback to the dating scene in no time. Here are some tips to help you alone the way:
Tip #1. Relax - I can't over-emphasize just how important it is to relax. Remember, you are there to have fun and this should be a pleasurable experience. Being tense can cause your date to get the wrong impression of you. While you may be fun-loving you might come off as being uptight.
Tip #2. Plan Ahead - Tip number two is vital for the success of tip number one. Plan ahead making sure that everything is taken care of at home. For example: If you have children make sure they are with a baby sitter you trust so you won't worry about them all night. If you have responsibilities at the office make sure they are handled beforehand. This way you can really relax and not have something else on you mind that may give you date the impression that you are board with him/her.
Tip #3. Be Yourself - The worst thing you can do is pretend to be someone you are not. In all relationships honesty is extremely important so it's vital that you're honest from the beginning. This gets rid of the pressure of having to perform as well as any future problems your dishonestly may cause down the road.
Tip #4. Apply Your Strong Points - Let' s face it, you are not nor will you ever be 17 years old again. So dressing and acting like a teenager will only make you look foolish. So be smart and play off your strong points. Baby boomers have an advantage over their younger counterparts, it's called time. They've have had time to make mistakes and learn from life. At this point in life most baby boomers know what realistic and unrealistic expectations are. They are well established and confident in who they are and most importantly, they've had time to learn what their likes and dislikes are in a future mate.
