Dating at Work - the Best Time to Meet Up with Your Significant Other

Greg Smith
If you made the decision to date someone at work then it's best not to display a relationship in the workplace. Showing affection in the workplace is considered taboo by most employers. It shows unprofessionalism and can upset the balance of the entire work environment.

You must be very careful with socializing in a professional setting. It is best socialize during specific breaks during the day or after work. It would be a good idea set aside time we you and your significant other to me at times that do not affect your professional image.

Here is a list of places and times that you can meet with your significant other when you've both worked in the same office or building.

Coffee breaks.

Whether they're in break room or outside having a smoke, provide a good meeting opportunity. Both men and women meet together in break room to discuss social or business related issues. You can use this opportunity to meet up with your other without it being viewed as wasting company resources.

Lunch

Lunch is another time that is great for meeting up with you special friend or spouse without agitating the work place. Lunch may actually be better because you can do so many different things during that time. Of course you can eat, but you can also go shopping, sit and talk, go for a walk or maybe do, well you know.

After Work

It goes without saying that if it seems the two of you meeting during coffee breaks or lunch is causing an issue, you'll have to wait until after work to really spend time together. Some companies frown even on the appearance of impropriety, and will not tolerate relationships in office. Some go as far as having their employees sign contractual agreements that they will not date within the company.

If you are in a situation like that, then it's best to either not show any affection in the work place at all, or have someone transfer to another job altogether. Not to mention, after hours is your own time and you can do what you want.

The only exception to this rule is if you have to work late. Then it's best to carry that work out of the office and to someone's house or a hotel. You don't want to get caught on camera in a compromising position that could get your both in a lot of trouble.

Office Parties

Office parties can be one of the most exciting places to enjoy your other when it relates to work. With free food and drinks flowing it's the perfect time to get together with your acquaintance and have a fun evening. Generally you can relax more and let loose when you're at a company's function. Although there are sure to be a few eyes watching, you should be able to enjoy your time together.

I met my husband at work 15 years ago. We're still working (and living) together. It's not all fun and games anymore though. LOL Nice write up!
