Daubing with Paints

Robert Archibald
Daubing with paints is such fun

It gives me genuine pleasure

And fills the long evening hours

That used to be hard to weather

A plain white surface holds visions

Of scenes or portraits to be

And as I add color on color

They grip and fascinate me

I really am not much as a painter

But one thing I know is true

Painting is harmless pleasure

And gives me something to do

It helps to fill that empty space

Your going has left in me

And in time I know I'll be able

The rightness of things to see

(In memory of Grandma Chilcoat)
