Daughtry Making Success Their Own Way

To say that Chris Daughtry should have won last years American Idol that would be a huge understatement,at least for me.When Chris Daughtry auditioned for American Idol he had to know that he had the vocal chops to make it onto Idol and into the Top 5,which he did.It was obvious to all American Idol watchers that Chris just didn't fit their idea of perfect Idol mold, proving them wrong this so-called post-grunge band from North Carolina is racing quickly up the charts and selling out venues nationwide.

In several interviews Chris has stated that he had no training whatsoever and the only thing he does before he performs are a few vocal exercises and push ups.He believes that as in anything in life that you have to work hard to achieve what you want, don't give up and to really live your dreams, which Chris is definitely doing now.

Chris Daughtry and his fellow band mates contribute their musical influences to bands such as ,Alice in Chains,Stone Temple Pilots,Soundgarden,Metallica and Pearl Jam.After finishing in fourth place on Season 5 of American Idol, Chris received a offer to take over as lead singer for the band Fuel, for most a chance of a lifetime but he turned down stating that " I want to form a new band" and after signing with RCA Records/19 Entertainment he did just that.

Joining along side this rising rock star are band members (which he and his label chose),Josh Steeley lead guitarist,Josh Paul "JP" bassist (who also played for Suicidal Tendencies),Joey Barns drummer and Brian Craddock guitarist.Their first single " It's Not Over" debuted on the radio December 6,2006 reaching #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 making it a instant success.Their current single "Home" is #13 on the the Billboard Hot 100 moving up 6 places from 19,utterly impressive.

In only a years time Chris has collaborated with LIVE,Fuel,3 Doors Down,Rob Thomas,Shinedown and Nickleback and this summer will be touring with Nickleback. It's evident that Daughtry is blazing a new set of trails and keeping their own torch lit with sheer enthusiasm.Their edgy sound and heartfelt lyrics are loved by all generations of fans.

I recently got the chance to see Daughtry in concert at The Wichita River Festival in Wichita,Kansas. The gates opened at 5 p.m. and the show didn't start until 8:50 p.m. but the wait was well worth it.The over 40,000 fans in attendance stood, cheered and sang along.Chris even stated " this is crazy that we only have one album out and we have fans like this!" If you get the chance to see Daughtry you won't be let down.
