Davao City

As soon as you have arrived at the airport in Davao City, you will know you are in a special place in the world. Most filipinos are very friendly and speak at least some English. The food is very fresh and delicious. In grocery stores and restaurants there are fish in aquariums you pick out for eating. There are also a lot of American restaurants there, like McDonald's, Pizza Hut, and KFC. The menus there are a little different, for instance a hot dog bacon supreme pizza. I would recommend you eat at the traditional restaurants to really enjoy some of the best foods in the world.

Davao City has very many beach resorts, nature parks, and even a Japanese tunnel that was dug during World War 2 that you can explore. There are several malls and Internet cafes spread throughout the city. Night life is extensive, with many night clubs and restaurants that are open late. Transportation is readily available by taxi, jeepney, different versions of motorcycles, and even bicycles with a sidecar attached.

Out of all the beach resorts in Davao City, Pearl Farm Beach Resort is my favorite. It is about a 45 minute boat ride from Davao to the location on the other island. When you arrive at the island, you have a greeting team that tells you about the place and will answer all your questions. There is an infinity swimming pool, a restaurant with delicious food. and a white sand beach with swimming in the Gulf of Davao. The sleeping cabins which are on stilts at the water edge have AC, cable TV, and a very large bed. There are also cabins on the hillside, which requires a climb of 80 steps. Take this into consideration if booking in advance.

Eden Nature Mountain Resort is a very beautiful park. The scenery of Davao is great and the plants and trees are breath taking. There is a guided tour in a shuttle bus that last about an hour. You can rent a cabin for an over night adventure. There is a open restaurant with peacocks walking around. For your entertainment there is a swimming pool and a cable ride. These are always exciting and will definitely get the blood flowing. You can also walk a mountain trail to do your own exploring. This can be an adventure all of it's own.

Crocodile Park provides a good afternoon of entertainment. Crocodiles ranging from babies to giants are residents of this park. There are also other forms of wildlife living here. You will get a tour and a chance to interact with these creatures. It is always a lot of fun and in the evening you might get to watch a show featuring traditional dancing and acting. You could also learn one of these dances while you are there.

Davao City is very exciting and the people are beautiful. They will become your friend, keep you entertained, and help you around the city. Once you have experienced the Davao City culture, you will want to keep going back for more visits and perhaps even move there someday.
