The community of Royal Oak is reaching out again to support families with cancer. The Bras for a Cause benefit this year will help the Gilda's Club of Metro Detroit, located in Royal Oak. The Gilda's Club supports hundreds of families each year in an effort to provide additional emotional and social assistance. All events and support are free at the Gilda's Club and no suffering family is turned away.

The Gilda's Club was started in support of Gilda Radner, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1986 and passed away in 1989. The first Gilda's Club was started in 1995 in New York and now there are 22 additional Gilda's Clubs around the U.S. and Canada.

This year's benefit is in celebration of Shannon Watson, and it will benefit the Gilda's Club Metro Detroit. Several area business are pitching in to make sure that this year's Bras for a Cause is a successful one. Area businesses that are involved include Zumba's Mexican Grille, Cup Cake and Mezza Mediterranean Grille. There are several communities that are working together to assist in this event, including Troy, Ferndale, Clawson, Westland, Novi, Livonia and Berkley, to name a few. Dave Coulier is hosting the event and there will be live music by Jill Jack.
