He presents himself very well in front of a crowd and why wouldn't he? He is no stranger to the stage and ironically seems to have begun his performance career at only 10 years old in Utah singing a Dolly Parton song called, "I Will Always Love You."
With all the confidence of a seasoned singer, this 17-year-old stares straight into the camera and hugs you with those innocent eyes. His fans feel it and are lulled into near silence when he begins to sing, only breaking out into the "I Love You David" chorus when there is an opening for them to be heard.
His song choices are ones that have depth. David tackles his songs as calmly and confidently as David slew Goliath. In fact, speaking of David, his strongest contender could possibly be David Cook. Both Davids stand strong on the stage and seem to lock up their performances.
He listens intently to the judges as they critique him and exudes sincerity. Yes, David, you let us into your heart, too, and it would be an honor to hand you the title of American Idol 2008. You have the look, the confidence, the fans, the ability, the talent, the graciousness and the COURAGE to be the ONE.
Each week he stretches the audience and the judges venturing out and singing songs that actually have meaning. He is refreshing!

- American Idol - April 11, 2006The inspiration this week on American Idol was Queen. Queen proved to be a little tough, vocally, for many of the Idol contestants. Queen's songs have many chord changes, and many of their songs are also hard to perform.

I LOVE DAVID!!!
FINALLY someone who has a brain.
David Archuleta clearly deserves to win the competition because he is clearly the best!
I said this before. I want David A to win American Idol because he wants to win. But in truth David has already won. He is a GOD loving person and is doing what his GOD given talent has lead him to do. Give us all the pleasure of his gift of music. And himself. He truly does not need to win Idol. He has won us all over with his wonderful GOD loving personality. Thank you David A.
I absolutely agree with you. David A is impressive... He is the only contestant that can maintain vocal control and emotionally connect with his audience to the point of bringing them to tears. I really hope he wins because I look forward to all his performances!
David's song choices is unique and has meaning...What can i say? He's just so, so amazing! Go David! Hope you'll visit the Philippines too! :)
I agree completely. David A. connects with his audience and that connections grows stronger week by week. And I love that he picks songs that he cares about and doesn't just do the popular thing people want him to do and sing upbeat songs just to show he can do it. He seems like a wonderful, sincere person, as well. He has my vote through to the end. And he has the tween girl vote so I think he is virtually unstoppable.
I agree with you. David A. is very refreshing. I like that he is comfortable with who he is and isn't trying desperately to fit in. Being true to yourself is the best trait anyone could ever have. I like that he is someone the young kids can look up to (instead of the young celebs who are always getting DUIs and what not) and feel that there is hope in the world. I absolutely cannot wait for him to release a CD and I will definitely buy it.
