David Archuleta, David Cook, and Syesha Mercado Make Top Three
Meanwhile Jason Castro Says Goodbye to American Idol
I am happy to see Syesha Mercado make it into the top three on American Idol. I have been a fan of Syesha since the beginning of season seven although the judges only started recognizing her in the past few weeks. As much as I love Syesha Mercado for her voice and bubbly personality I know that her stint in the top 3 won't last long. There are two contestants who have been battling long before the top three finalists were declared. Still I feel that Syesha Mercado should be in the top three. She deserves to be there and I am glad to see that contestants such as Brooke White or Jason Castro didn't stand in her way. Congratulations Syesha Mercado for making it as one of the top 3 finalists on American Idol!
Next on the list of top 3 finalists is David Cook. To be honest I wasn't impressed with David Cook's performance for the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame show. Hungry Like the Wolf (Duran Duran) happens to be one of my favorite songs by the group and I don't think David Cook did it any justice. All of that aside I am not shocked, or disappointed, to see David Cook make it to the final three on American Idol. David Cook has made it to the top 3 based on his ability to take a song and transform it into a rock hit. He also has the perfect voice for singing rock music. This talented young American Idol contestant will likely make it to the top 2 and end there. That's alright though as being one of the top two finalists on American Idol is an accomplishment to be proud of. Congratulations to David Cook for making it as one of the top 3 finalists on American Idol!
Then we have David Archuleta. No surprise to see this talented young man in the top 3 of American Idol season 7. David Archuleta has a huge fan base who votes for him week after week because of his sweet singing voice and personality. During the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame show David Archuleta proved that he is deserving of the title as this year's American Idol. David Archuleta's performances remain consistently good which gives him an edge over the other two contestants. The only week I didn't think that David Archuleta did well in was Neil Diamond week but, his performance wasn't really that bad. Congratulations to David Archuleta for making it into the top 3 finalists on American Idol!
As American Idol Season 7 nears its end it's a great time to reflect on the best and the worst moments this season. This season has been fairly mild compared to seasons past but it wasn't free of controversy or forgotten lyrics.
American Idol Season 7: Forgotten Lyrics
"Don't forget your lyrics." This important piece of advice has been given over and over again to American Idol contestants yet they always seem to do it anyway. This season hasn't been too terrible however. There was the incident from two weeks past where Brooke White forgot a few words to her song and again this week as Jason Castro forgot a few words to Mr. Tamborine Man. There's nothing more disappointing than watching an American Idol contestant go on stage only to forget the words to their song.
American Idol Season 7: Controversy
A hit show such as American Idol will always have its fair share of controversy. Who could forget Danny Noriega who didn't make it far on American Idol? Some fans felt that Danny's time was cut too short because of his status as a gay man. Personally I liked Danny and would have liked to see of seen him stay a little longer. Then as we headed into the top 12 it was David Hernandez and his stripper past creating buzz. After David it was Carly Smithson and her previous recording contract. American Idol viewers felt it gave her an unfair advantage. And of course there were the racy photos that I am sure Ramiele Malubay would like to forget. Last but not least there was David Cook and a name he isn't soon to forget. You can read about that one here. I guess that saying is right... "There's no such thing as bad publicity."
American Idol Season 7: Memorable Performances
It's hard to try and remember each and every song sung on American Idol this season. There are a few that do stick out in my mind however. For instance I can remember thinking that David Archuleta could not possibly sing "Imagine" and do the song any justice. He proved me wrong. Another memorable performance by David Archuleta was when he sang "You're the Voice". Then there was David Cook and "Billie Jean" or "Always Be My Baby". Jason Castro gave a performance of "Over the Rainbow" which impressed many American Idol viewers. While it wasn't one of my favorites it was memorable and was considered a great performance on American Idol. When Syesha Mercado sang "One Rock & Roll Too Many" during Andrew Lloyd Webber week she brought the house down and gave Simon Cowell something to smile about. It was also one of my favorites of her performances on American Idol. Brooke White said goodbye last week but she also had a memorable performance when she sang "You're So Vain" on American Idol. Chikezie left the show too soon in my opinion. He also gave one of the most memorable performance on American Idol Season 7 when he sang "I Believe To My Soul".
American Idol Season 7: The Worst Performances
Jason Castro sang "I Shot the Sheriff" (Bob Marley) this week on American Idol in one of the worst performances ever on Idol. He's not alone though as these other contestants also gave poor performances worthy of the worst list. Brooke White sang "I'm a Believer" (Neil Diamond) on American Idol as her first song during Neil Diamond week and sang it poorly. If ever there were an appropriate time to mention the word "karaoke" this was it. When it comes to Kristy Lee Cook it's hard to think of a single good performance. While she did do fairly well some weeks she did atrocious others. "Eight Days a Week" (Beatles) had to be her worst with "Forever" (Mariah Carey) coming in at a close second. Michael Johns was one of my favorite American Idol contestants this season, but even he gave a performance worthy of landing on the "worst" list. It all happened when Michael Johns thought it would be okay to sing "Go Your Own Way" (Fleetwood Mac). I'd have to say that Ramiele Malubay gave performances on American Idol which put me to sleep. I do remember watching her sing "In My Life" (Beatles) though and wondering why she was even in the competition.
American Idol Season 7: Shockers
Whenever a fan favorite and great talent is voted off of American Idol it comes as a complete shock. The first shocker of the season was when Chikezie was voted off on March 26th. Then after Idol Gives Back aired many viewers expected to hear that nobody would be voted off of American Idol. They were wrong and Michael Johns was sent home before his time. Last, there was Carly Smithson who should never of left American Idol before Brooke White or Jason Castro.
Will the season finale of American Idol be a shocker as well? You'll have to vote and see. Remember, you shouldn't assume your favorite American Idol is safe so vote, vote, vote!

Post a CommentAlthough I don't keep up with the program enough, I do like what I've seen of Mercado and she doesn't seem to be just another cookie cutter performer but a bit more original.
thanks for the info...though I don't watch the show I find the results interesing from all I read and hear
Very interesting recap.
Great recap... I think the best three are definitely left. Love, Love, Love David Cook!!!!!!!!
I like Cook and Mercardo the best but I predict Archuleta will win.
David C is for me :-)
Great recap here, we shall see what happens!!!!!!!!!!!
The three who belong at the top of American Idol finals for sure! Poor little Jason looked so relieved. He will do well in his niche.
