David Archuleta Heads American Idol's Final 5 Rankings

This season has been a very exciting season for American Idol in my opinion. We have seen some great performances and well...some not so great performances! The remaining contestants competing for the highly esteemed title of the "American Idol" are all, in my opinion, worthy of being there. They have sacrificed their time, families, friends and lives to pursue a dream of performing for audiences worldwide. They have proves their abilities and capabilities time and time again!

So, that gets us down to top 5 remaining contestants of the group.

The Scotsman ranking of the top 5 are (drum roll):

David Archuleta - This young man continues to come out time and time again pouring his heart and soul into anything and everything he sings! He is such a great performer, singer, and such a likeable young man! He has a reputation for being humble... likeable ...a great performer...an amazing vocalist...and gives the appearance of already being a seasoned performer. I believe that David Archuleta was made for this line of work and entertainment. I believe he will be and should be the next American Idol.

David Cook - David Cook has some amazing vocal capabilities and comes out on stage with a comfort and confidence that many of the contestants do not have. Over the past few weeks, I think his fame and impact he is having on the country, in addition to dealing with personal family issues has brought a greater degree of humility and maturity to Mr. Cook. I truly enjoy watching and listening to his performances and look forward to hearing much more in the future! I think it will be a very, very close race between David A. and David C. I wish them both the best and know they will shine no matter where they place.

Jason Castro - The young man with the flowing locks and boyish charms has really been capturing the attention and devotion of a lot of fans nationwide! His appearance of lack of confidence at times, I believe, is more closely related to some degree of shyness, which he will most likely overcome. He has been wooing the audience with his locks...his looks...and his lyrics. Well, the lyrics may not be his but his soothing and sultry voice captivates the audience to where even Paula and Simon wouldn't mind sitting at an all night beach luau to listen to him, definitely says something about his vocal abilities. While I believe he is a strong contender I think he would have a very hard time excelling over the David duo!

Syesha Mercado - Syesha Mercado has come a long way throughout the season. She has demonstrated that she ha stage presence, a great voice, an unusual but enjoyable tone, and is able to work the audience and the camera. She is a very strong performer and I think she definitely has a great career ahead of her in music.

Brooke White - While my "home-girl" (Arizona) started out strong, she has had some difficulties along the way with confidence, remembering lyrics and really shining throughout the competition. The performances she has done really well were some excellent performances and captivated the studio and television audiences. The main thing is being able to perform to that level consistently and being ready to as well. She has a beautiful voice and one I would love to hear more of, but I am not sure how much longer she will remain in the competition.

So there you have it folks...the Scotsman Top 5 picks for American Idol! As a disclaimer...I have never performed at this level...and more than likely never will have experienced the frustrations, fears, pressures, and challenges that come from and experience like these folks have had. I am merely rating their performance from my personal opinion without taking in consideration all of the background issues they deal with. If we had to take in all things considered, then the results might be very different, because all we see is what is before our eyes and what pours into our ears.
