David Archuleta Shines on With You; Not so Much on And So It Goes
David Archuleta: Our Next American Idol?
I should have gone over with my supervisor. She was waving around her signed banner like a flag, and emailing us all pictures of her meeting David. I was sooooooo jealous! I knew I should have followed her out when I saw her leave! I knew she was going over there! I knew it! Rrraaaaaarrrrrrrrr! Okay, now that tigercat has got her growl out, on with the show.
David can sing the phone book. He proved it tonight, and that is why I am only slightly nervous for him. I should be more nervous because two of the three songs were too old for him, but he made them bearable. Meanwhile, Murray High School is sending enough texts that he is sure to make the final two on their votes alone.
His first pick of the night was one Paula picked for him. I thought Paula liked David. Her pick of Billy Joel's "And So It Goes" resulted in a song that was too slow. Yet this same type of song has seemed to work for him throughout the competition so maybe he'll be OK. Did anyone else notice his outfit for this performance matched Seacrest's?
I liked his second song TONS better. He sang "With You" which was a great song for him. This showcased his voice, and it was young. Yes, hearing him sing the word "Boo" was different, but this was a really good pick for him. This was my favorite performance of his tonight.
The third song, which was the producer's choice, was "Longer" by Dan Oldfogie. I can't believe the producers would be trying to sabotage Archuleta's chances, but they did him no favors by picking this number. But David actually make this song sound good. It wasn't the horrific overplayed on slow radio version that I braced myself for.
To be honest, this was not one of his better nights. However, he's got the fan base, good looks, amazing voice, etc...
I honestly believe that David Archuleta, by next Wednesday, will be crowned the next American Idol!

I LOVE HIM;; &+ He Is Adorable.
to whoever said David Archuleta was a "geeky white kid," actually he is HALF Latino and have White! His Dad is white and his mom Lupe is of HIspanic descent FYI :)
Zach, considering I was a geeky white 17 year old, I don't see it as a stretch. Especially since it was far more enjoyable then the other two songs he covered, and he really seemed to be connecting and having fun with the audience which has appeared to be a weak point of his a performer.
This article was really good for a change. David A. was really good last night. He has gone through hell this past week. Cook STUNK!!!!
I don't know what kind of crack you're smoking, but you need to put it down and face reality... David Archuleta (a geeky 17 year old white kid) attempting to cover a Chris Brown song was anything but a good idea... can you say awkward?? Even he didn't believe it.. you could tell he was totally uncomfortable.
