David Archuleta in the Top Seven

David, David, David. What can I possibly say about him that hasn't been said already? Cute? Check. Endearingly bashful with female fans? Check. Good vocals? Check. Nice song choices? Ehhhh, he doesn't always make the best choices in the world. He song picks are usually so out there!!!

That is the challenge when writing about David Archuleta. You can't write anything bad about him because it's not there. This week he was great, next week he will be great, the week after, he'll be great. I don't think he knows how to sing bad, and everyone agrees with me. I haven't heard anyone say they don't like him yet. Anyone in America that still doesn't like him didn't watch him this week.

When I heard the mentor this week was Mariah Carey, I was nervous for David. Yes, he was amazing on Dolly Parton week, but Mariah is on a completely different planet. I couldn't wait to see what he pulled out for this one.

What I can say about his performance this week is ....... Wow!!!!!!! His performance of "When You Believe" was amazingly beautiful. In fact I liked his performance even better then the original version. Not that I'm surprised. I hope he can/does include it when he releases his first album.

It seemed to be the trend this week that guys did better then the girls (although I don't know if I love or hate David Cook's "Always Be A Part of Me". That is only my all time favorite Mariah Carey song. Did he sing it or slaughter it?) , but as if I could expect David to be outshined by any of the other contestants? There can only be one winner and the only thing that would surprise me about this season is if a contestant named David Archuleta is not left with the proverbial crown at the end of this season.
