David Cook: Will He Always Be Your Baby?

American Idol's Top 7 Performance

Wendy Alli
American Idol's David Cook performed "Always Be My Baby" in his own style. To be honest, I did not like it. While Randy Jackson makes mention of Kristy Lee Cook's pitch problems, there was no reference at all of David Cook's pitch problems in his song. David Cook was way off in the second to last verse. I am sure other viewers heard it as well.

The song was very dreary but different. Randy Jackson loved David Cook's performance saying, "You are ready to make an album. You're a hot recording artist!" While David Cook has been very consistent and nailing his selected songs, "Always Be My Baby" just did not do anything for me. While I know many viewers will completely disagree, my husband for one, if David Cook wants to be the next American Idol he needs to control his pitch. Mariah Carey thought that David Cook could make the song a hit. I will not be one of the people buying it.

At this point, David Cook should not be considered the front-runner. With David Archuleta still in the mix with his breathtaking performances, Archuleta will continue to be the stronghold in the competition. The offset will begin when viewers' favorite idol contestants get voted off. The question will be whether they are going to sway toward David Cook or David Archuleta. When it comes down to that time in the American Idol show, the number of viewers voting will be at its highest.

Just as I had a tremendous surprise with Michael Johns getting the least amount of votes and leaving viewers' jaws dropped, I would not be surprised if David Cook made it to the final two. My prediction leaves David Cook and David Archuleta in the final round of the show. Even though I did not like his song or performance, I do not think David Cook will be in the bottom three on tonight's American Idol Show.

David's performance of ABMB DID have some pitch problems, but not a lot. Overall, it was an amazing performance, and the arrangement was genius. If you don't think you would buy this........you need to listed to the studio version.......it's PERFECTLY in tune, and an incredible song........no doubt that it would be climbing the charts today if they could release it.

If you want to go to a DA concert or buy his records, go for it.............no one over the age of 15 is going to be there with you......

ya know, i don't know about you...but i don't have any cds that have a sound remotely close to david a.'s style. i will NEVER buy any of his music--unless he matures into a really hip and cool songwriter. at this point in his life, he can play for all of the miley cyrus lovers of the universe. thanks, but no thanks. i don't buy into the hype.

David Archuleta is the whole package. I'm not sure why people always want to criticize someone who has real talent. He also has a sweet, likeable personality. I don't know why people have such a hard time accepting that there are nice, genuine, talented young people out there!? David Archuleta has true talent and will be a huge success whether he wins or not.

Objectively speaking (that is without mixing the emotions with appreciation of good singing talent), I don't think David Cook sang the Mariah Carey song well regardless of his original arrangement. Those who do not agree can watch his live singing again. It wasn't solid. I kind of wonder what is the main objective of American Idol (when it all started)? Can anyone remember? I'm hearing judges commenting about new arrangement of songs etc. Has American Idol become a song re-writing competition, instead of a singing competition? I sometimes wonder how come the panel of judges was invited to judge when I don't believe they know a wide variety of songs. On more than one occasions they openingly admitted they had heard of certain songs. Then, are we to judge them too for being not qualified to judge the idol contestants? For the idol contestants who are being judged every week, you have my sympathy. Continue to pursue your dreams. With passion you will succeed. All the best to all the conte

David Cook is a musical genious and we could be looking at the next John Lennon. David A. has a nice voice but really doesn't do anything new and different. He is the next Richard Marx.

David Cook will win this competition as he has universal appeal. David A. only appeals to teenie bopper girl fan base.

YOU ARE CRAZY - Pitch problems - that song was so amazing!!!! Yes David A has a soft beautiful voice but he has no style and is a bit boring - I don't seem him a Mainstream Hit at all. David Cook is so unique and has made songs like Billie Jean and others sound modern!!! These people are singing Live and he still sounded good there are always pitch differences in Live performences. Believe me, when he is recording albums - there won't be 'pitch problems' - he will be a HUGE success. David A will be a teeny bopper success.

My comment was only for the David Cook haters.

What you "pros" don't under stand is that Dave C is a performer as much as a vocalist. David A may sound "amazing" but he is an absolute bore to watch. You will never catch a 21-40 year old straight male in his audience if he ever tours. (Unless they are bring their kids or grandma) Just sit back and analyze all their performances with the volume off. Dave Cook stands out by a mile! He has the look and feel of a pro and you can tell he loves playing music. Also, Have you ever heard any of your favorite singers perform a pitch perfect night? NO! its a constant battle for singers to stay in key in a live setting. Most of you Cook haters probable like vocalist who lip sync anyway. And to the genius who made the comment that the world already has a Chris Daughtry... Are you tarded? Have you noticed all Rappers out there? You can't swing a cat by it tail and not hit some new rap "artist". There is plenty of room for more rock artists. Last but not least. David Cook is not Full of himself,

I'm a HUGE Mariah Carey fan and David Cook's version of "Always be my Baby" blew me away! It was so beautiful and it could compete with the original any time!!!
