David Cook's Music of the Night Rocks to a Phantom Tune

David Cook did not fail to impress me once again during Andrew Lloyd Webber week. He sang "Music of the Night" from 'The Phantom of the Opera.' He brought his usual rock edge to the song and complemented it with vocals that were flawless.

David Cook could be the first "rocker" contestant on American Idol to actually win. I think David C. has enough commercial appeal with a sprinkling of rock to satisfy pop-haters. As usually, the judges loved him. I actually agree with them. David C. has amazing natural talent. He's great at working the audience from the stage and not to mention, he's attractive.

David C. was criticized earlier in the season by Simon because of some perceived "pompous" behavior. I don't know where Simon got the idea that David Cook is in some way arrogant. If anything, he always comes of as a very humble, down-to-earth guy. And, he loves crossword puzzles. He has my vote.

Without David Cook in the competition, we would be seriously lacking an element that the past several Idol seasons have embraced. As the "resident rocker" he has to fill the shoes of past season favorites like Chris Daughtry. I think he definitely can live up to the hype that comes with the territory. He has the musical talent, vocally and instrumentally. He can put together his own arrangements and he has charisma that can not be taught.

For me, David Cook deserves the number one spot among the contestants, but he may have serious competition from another favorite and another David. Yes, I'm refering to the Golden Boy of American Idol, David Archuleta. Hopefully, the American public consists of more than just girls under the age of 15 texting in their votes.

David Cook can sing anything, and he proved it with "Music of the Night." l always knew he was super-talented, but l really feared for him when l heard there was an Andrew Lloyd Weber night. Ah! But I forgot about "Music." A song l love, and he did it masterfully! What a talent!! Bless David Cook.
