David Freddoso Takes His Swing at Barack Obama

JR Moreau
The lines have been drawn and the Democrats and Republicans have chosen their presidential candidates. Barack Obama and John McCain are pulling up their sleeves and preparing for a true brawl all the way up until election time in November. Politics never were for sissies and the sort of personal fortitude it requires to maintain a positive message throughout the campaign is something that most human beings lack. This decade's Democratic nominees have been virtual heavy bags for the Republican political machine to pound on. In the coming months Barack Obama will need to keep his hands up to block a big blow from David Freddoso in the form of an attack-book intended to derail his campaign. David Feddoso's proven tactics have managed to deflate an extremely high powered Democratic campaign headed by John Kerry in the last presidential race. Will it work again this time? These sorts of books are nothing new, but are becoming more and more influential in swaying gullible, non fact-checking readers over to the Republican voting base.

The Case Against Barack Obama: The Unlikely Rise and Unexamined Agenda of the Media's Favorite Candidate, by David Freddoso

Barack Obama may not have done anything bad yet, but it seems like David Freddoso knows something that the rest of America does not. With this searing account of all the bad things that Obama could do coming out in August, it is doubtful that speculation will throw no bigger of a monkey wrench into Obama's campaign than Hillary Clinton could have.

Legacy: Paying the Price for the Clinton Years, by Rich Lowry

Though not directly published during the 2000 election, much of Al Gore's demise can be attributed to the anti-Clinton fear and hatred proliferated by books such as this. Gore's intellectual brilliance and low-profile temperament couldn't possible hold up to the rip-roaring cowboy image that George W. Bush portrayed. This sentiment towards the Clintons clearly hasn't died down in recent years whatsoever.

The Truth About Hillary: What She Knew, When She Knew It, and How Far She'll Go to Become President, by Edward Klein

Once thought to be the presumptive nominee, Hillary Clinton was on top of the world. She had seemingly bested her protractors and silenced her criticizers of her husband's presidency. But she was only able to keep that fight up for so long. Going up against a uniquely well spoken and charismatic politician in Barack Obama, Clinton's mainstream supporters held fast by her side, but those left undecided were given plenty to ponder with books such as this one on what her motives truly were for the White House. Whatever human side Clinton was trying to get through in her campaign was repeatedly stomped out by the flood of propaganda against her and her husband's character.

Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry, by John E. O'Neill

O'Neill is seemingly David Freddoso's mentor in writing style. It is doubtful that Freddoso would go out on such a libelous limb as this book did. Virtually every damming "fact" in this book was refuted after the campaign, but it hardly mattered. "Unfit for Command" along with an unending and merciless assault from Karl Rove's political juggernaut have forever tarnished John Kerry's name and everything that it touches. If anyone were to every write a book like this about John McCain they would be hung out to dry before even being published. A shameful piece indeed.

These books used for political attacks are usually a hit-or-miss affair. When they hit squarely, severe damage can be done to a campaign. Otherwise, these books just get added to the piles of trash where divisive and poorly written novels and non-fiction books wind up every year. I predict David Freddoso's upcoming effort will be in the latter category.
