David Hasselhoff Barred from Seeing Daughters

A judge has suspended David Hasselhoff 's visitation rights as the result of a leaked tape showing a very drunk Hasselhoff writhing on the floor while trying to eat a Wendy's hamburger. At least one of his daughters can be heard admonishing her father during the incident.

Hasselhoff, who was not present at the hearing, admitted that he struggles with alcohol addiction.

"Despite that I have been going through a painful divorce and I have recently been separated from my children due to my work, I have been successfully dealing with my issue," he said.

"Unfortunately, one evening I did have a brief relapse, but part of recovery is relapse."

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mark Juhas said the order will remain in effect until May 21.. At that time another hearing will be held and the tape will be validated.

"This videotape changes the landscape, it just does," said Judge Juhas.

According to Hasselholf the tape was taken by one of his daughters who was concerned for him. The Baywatch star said the footage was never meant to be made public. The recording was made three months ago at Hasselhoff's Las Vegas home where the actor is appearing in the Producers.

"I have seen the tape. I have learned from it and I am back on my game," the star said.

"The tape was never meant to become public but got into the hands of individuals who are not worthy of mentioning, who maliciously released the tape for their own self purpose. I hope that someone else will learn from the tape, as I have."

Family and friends of addicts often videotape them when they are in the throes of the addiction as part of the intervention process.

Hasselhoff and his ex-wife, Catherine Bach have been embroiled in custody and spousal support conflicts since Hasselhoff filed for divorce in January of 2006.

Bach's Attorney, Debra Opri said her client was deeply troubled over the release of the tape.

"She's devastated the videotape was put out in the press," Opri said. "When a mother hears this from her daughter, what does she think? `I haven't protected my daughters.'"

The couple's two daughters are 16 (Taylor Ann)and 14(Haley). Hasselhoff's net worth is reported to be $100 million. At one point Baywatch was the most popular show in the world.

It sure goes to show you that you dont have to be just the average joe to be an addict. Part of recovery doesnt necessarily mean relapse, in fact many who relapse never get back into recovery. I hope for his dear daughters sakes he does. I have never been a big fan of his either

The victims here are the children. They'll have to live with this mess.

How crummy of someone to release the tape. I see the theraputic value of making it, but it should never have been shared with the public. :(

I saw the tape on the Net and it was pretty sad.

I feel so sorry for the kids, especially the one who did the videotaping. I hope she isn't blaming herself. I also hope both kids are seeing a counselor. They may need one to get them through all the pressures with the media. I wish David luck, too. Addictions are hard to fight.

I agree that the article is well written, and that these kids are the real victims of this released tape. Having said that, if we, the public, didn't watch and read about it, there would be no need to victimize the children in this way.

I can't imagine what it must be like for his kids to see that tape played so many times in the media. Good article.

I saw this video tape on ET the other night. It was pretty sad watching him barely able to sit up while his daughter could be heard in the background trying to get through to him. Great article!
