David Hasselhoff Brings Baywatch Back to Dancing with the Stars 2010

Just months after his sexy Baywatch co-star Pamela Anderson steamed things up in the ballroom, actor/singer David Hasselhoff will attempt to do the same when the Fall edition of Dancing with the Stars 2010 premieres in September.

Multiple reports peg the 58-year old former leading man as a DWTS cast member, although the official reveal won't be released by ABC until the August 30 episode of the new drama Bachelor Pad airs. Also rumored to be donning sparkles and sequins is Cheers alum Kirstie Alley.

In addition to his decade-plus long stint as lifeguard Mitch Buchannon on the smash international beachcomber hit, David Hasselhoff also enjoyed other entertainment-related success in preparation for his time on Dancing with the Stars 2010. He notably starred as Michael Knight - and his evil twin Garth - alongside a smooth black intelli-car named Kit in the 80s drama Knight Rider.

Most recently, Hasselhoff had a short stint as Dr. William 'Snapper' Foster on daytime's The Young and the Restless.

As has been the case for a number of past DWTS contestants, Hasselhoff's resume isn't squeaky clean. According to a report published by Aceshowbiz last year, The Hoff had been hospitalized for alcohol poisoning - or suspected alcohol poisoning - at least five times leading up to 2009. And the trend continued: Just months later, according to TMZ, he was again rushed to the hospital after a bout of excessive drinking.

Choosing to appear on Dancing with the Stars can prove itself a wise choice for reputation-challenged celebrities, allowing the public to focus on mad cha cha skills rather than previous unsavory antics. Jailbird rapper Lil Kim in particular excelled during DWTS season 8, finishing in fifth place with partner Derek Hough. If The Hoff can channel the charm and good looks that made him a superstar into a succession of solid dance routines, he may have a shot at the Mirrorball Trophy at season's end.
