David Hasselhoff Hospitalized for Alcohol Poisoning, According to Reports
You may recall that a YouTube video featuring a heavily intoxicated David Hasselhoff went viral on the Internet in 2007. The video features a shirtless Hasselhoff lying on the floor trying to stuff a Wendy's hamburger into his mouth. Indeed, it is a sad and pathetic sight to behold. Hoff's daughter Taylor Ann, who reportedly shot the video, can be heard imploring her father to stop drinking. In a statement issued after the Hasslehoff video went viral, the Hoff claimed that Taylor Ann shot the video so that he could see how obnoxious he behaves when he is hammered.
I recently took a look at the Hasselhoff YouTube video and was astonished to see just how hammered David Hasselhoff appears to be. Hoff is not a small man, and it would have to take a significant amount of alcohol for him to get that intoxicated. Clearly, David Hasselhoff was binging heavily on booze that fateful day.
And if the reports of David Hasselhoff being hospitalized for alcohol poisoning Sunday are true, he obliviously has been hitting the bottle very heavily once again. Just to give you some perspective, it would take about five or six drinks (one drink is considered to be 1.5 ounces of liquor, 12 ounce of beer) for most average-sized men to get moderately intoxicated. But to reach the point where you have to be hospitalized for alcohol poisoning can only mean that one has consumed massive quantities of booze. Shocking quantities of booze.
I am a big fan of the Hoff - there is something very endearing about him. But if the above-noted report is true, if David Hasselhoff has indeed been hospitalized for alcohol poisoning, it is clear that he is a profoundly troubled and unhappy man. When one drinks that heavily, one is attempting to anesthetize themselves from the trials and tribulations of life. One is trying to literally drown their problems with booze.
If it is true that the Hoff has not yet gotten control of his alcoholism, my heart goes out to him and his family.
I hope he gets on the road to recovery soon.

Why doesn't that surprise me? Maybe because he acts half stoned every time he's on TV.
Celebrity seems to breed more than its proportional share of sefl-indulgennt and ultimately lethal addictions... David needs a life guard.
