David Hernandez in Hot Water

Rosa Hayes
American Idol contestant David Hernandez has been rumored to have been a stripper at a male entertainment club as stated by the manager at the Phoenix strip club and reported by ABC News.

The rumors have got many people and the media in a whirl-wind asking why David Hernandez was even able to participate in American Idol without anyone finding out. There have been many reports stating that David Hernandez was indeed a male stripper at the Phoenix club and stopped stripping in September of 2007 after he failed to renew his stripping license. The manager for the Phoenix club speculates that this was around the time that David Hernandez began performing for American Idol as stated by the ABC News.

There is no crime in stripping but contestants of American Idol have been thrown off the show for much less. Photos of David Hernandez in a male strip club can be found at Vote For The Worse. As far as him being a male stripper, there is no harm in that but many parents probably feel that this is inappropriate for someone who their children might look up too someday or even today.

David Hernandez wasn't the only one who was featured in the spotlight for haven taken scandalous photos. Back in 2003, finalist Frenchie Davis had been disqualified for her racy photos and appearance on an adult website. None the less, Antonella Barba was able to remain in the competition after some very racy photos of her had surfaced on the Internet as reported by ABC News. This has left many to wander, including myself, if DavidHernandez will be allowed to continue in American Idol or if this will be the end of the road for him.

American Idol has become so big that they are always picking a contestant that has had some type of racy photos or appeared nude in somewhere in the world. Will the fight for the AmericanIdol be ruined by a career choice that Hernandez had made? I don't really think that he will be kicked off but I do feel that this might play for a bad impact on his overall votes that he receives.

As far as him possibly being a stripper, it doesn't make him less appealing to me or more for that matter. He was one of my husband's favorite singers from the beginning and I don't believe that this should have an impact on what people think, but you never really know. Some people make judgments on others based off of what they find out and not what they had thought all along.

I always new that there was a certain sex appeal about David Hernandez and had even told my husband that he was too much of a feisty flirt when up on stage. As for myself, I could care less on what his career was before he became famous for being in American Idol, that boy can sing his heart out.

Who knows what will happen next to this American Idol contestant or if his fate lies in the hands of what people may now think of him? As for myself, I don't vote but I do watch the show.

He was voted off last night but everyone knows that by now. I don't think about what they did before American Idol. I see them as great singers and vote for the ones I like. I just don't pay attention to what dirt they bring up about the contestants. It is a great show with great singers and I watch and vote faithfully every week, every season. Great article. :)

yeah I don't think it's that big a deal. It's a singing competition. We're not here to judge what he did to pay the bills.

Well, who in the entertainment arena DOESN'T have skeletons in their past? If they don't kick him off the show - he will probably get a lot more votes after fans check out the link to your video. Great reporting.

Gee, you'd think they would check out the contestants' background more thoroughly unless they were aware of this and wanted the publicity. Super coverage of a subject who was proven to be more uncovered than people may have known, at one point in his career.
