David Letterman Versus Sarah Palin: Better Known as World War 3

Letterman Has an Easy Target and Fires Away on a Nightly Basis

David Letterman doesn't have George Bush to insert into his monologue on a daily basis but he still loves taking the occasional shot at former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Why not, most of the jokes although venomous are pretty funny. Letterman appeared to be ramping up for another go round with the former governor.

The latest examples from Tuesday night November 10th:

1) Something better to do instead of reading Sarah Palin's book, stick your head in a microwave (replete with a head in a microwave blowing up).
2) The Mayan calendar says the world will end in 2012 and now this announcement from the Mayans, "The world will end in 2012 but not from floods, earthquakes or fires. (A picture then pops up of Sarah Palin as the new President in 2012).
3) " Sarah Palin announced she will not be in New York promoting her book on her book tour. " David Letterman pauses and looks away for a second. "Do you think it is because of me?"

The original feud started on June 9th, 2009 when Letterman joked in the opening monologue that the governor visited Yankee Stadium, sitting in "far, far right field" with Rudy Giuliani. "They had a wonderful time," Letterman chuckled. "The toughest part of her visit was keeping Eliot Spitzer away from her daughter."

Spitzer was the disgraced former New York governor who was among other things, caught with a prostitute. From Governor Sarah Palin: "Concerning Letterman's comments about my young daughter (and I doubt he'd ever dare make such comments about anyone else's daughter): 'Laughter incited by sexually-perverted comments made by a 62-year-old male celebrity aimed at a 14-year-old girl is not only disgusting, but it reminds us some Hollywood/NY entertainers have a long way to go in understanding what the rest of America understands - that acceptance of inappropriate sexual comments about an underage girl, who could be anyone's daughter, contributes to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation." Letterman said in defense that he was referring to her 18 year old daughter as he apologized.

Palin milked the controversy for a week as she went on several national shows to rip the late night host. Calling Letterman ,"pathetic" . Letterman's response, "I haven't been called pathetic once since [my] honeymoon," he joked. "This very well could be my last show," he said, as though he had a target on his back. "Oh, great," he said. "I have pissed off a hunter."

Time will tell if this another eruption of Palin/Letterman feud. One interesting note is this is November, a prime ratings sweep month. For Palin the timing is good for her also as she is out promoting her book. Hmmmm. Could they be pulling the wrestling promotion here? Stay tuned..
