David Shuster Suspended Indefinitely from MSNBC

Caught Cutting a Pilot for Rival Network CNN

Mark Whittington
David Shuster has been suspended indefinitely from MSNBC for cutting a pilot at CNN, presumably a violation of his contract, certainly an act of extreme disloyalty. The suspension is effective immediately.

David Shuster's career at MSNBC has been, to say the least, entertaining, if not quite down to the level of a Keith Olbermann or Chris Matthews. David Shuster has been suspended before, for a tacky remark about Chelsea Clinton made on the air during the 2008 campaign. "There's just something a little bit unseemly to me that Chelsea's out there calling up celebrities, saying support my mom ... doesn't it seem like Chelsea's sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?"

Like most of the on air personalities at MSNBC, David Shuster took a far left bent in his reporting and commentary. Shuster's most recent target were the Tea Party protestors, whom he called "far right" and accused of "going nuts" during demonstrations in Washington D.C. over health care reform. He has also accused tea partiers of being "unhinged" white men.

David Shuster has also attacked Rush Limbaugh for creating a "--picture of fascism and Nazism on the march." Shuster also slammed Sarah Palin for allegedly "inciting hate" on her Facebook page against Democrats and liberals. On the same program David Shuster brought on Mike Malloy, a liberal radio talker who once accused Dick Cheney of "eating the blood of a Jewish or Muslim baby," making Cheney the first recorded gentile to be accused of the infamous blood libel. Possibly Malloy was brought on as an expert on hate speech.

Most media customers, tired of the prevalence of ultra liberal broadcasters like David Shuster on the air waves, may celebrate seeing the back end of Shuster. But it should be noted that he was taken off the air not for his liberal bias or low ratings, but for cutting a pilot with a rival network. And even if, as expected, David Shuster's contract is not renewed, he may still show up on CNN.

Still it does incite a little bit of pleasure to see David Shuster self destruct. Even if he later does show up on CNN, to behave as he has on MSNBC, the facts of his departure from his old network will no doubt haunt him and will detract from any more moral pronouncements he may make against conservatives in the future.

I guess I've never heard of this guy, but with ratings so low it seems as if a whole lot of other people haven't either, maybe CNN will at least be a step up, even though their ratings suck too.

Like Fox is NOT a biased right-wing news station? Sorry, can't agree with the left wing slam. If Shuster broke a contract ...fine, so he may have used poor judgement. But he is not to the left what Limbaugh is to the right.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy! Karma man, what goes around comes around!! No sense in looking for a new job just let your Lib buddies take care of you. After all isn't that the Lib way?!?!?

It's good to see Shuster being driven from MSNBC. Hopefully, he will not be replaced by someone even more extreme and biased.

I thought I was linking to a news page -- why is the writer of this article leaving no stone unturned to smear MSNBC? Whatever this page does, it isn't reporting the news.
