Tyree's Incredible Catch Personifies the "Who Wants it More" Attitude of the Entire Giants Team

David Tyree's incredible catch just personifies the attitude of "who wants it more" of the entire New York Giants team. Tyree was up against two of the best defensive men in the game, Harrison and Samuels. But before the catch, you have to look at Manning's great escape. It looked like a sure sack. The defenders were crashing in on Manning; how he shook loose was pure determination, and this spirit that the Giants had down the stretch: I won't be denied". This writer kept screaming, "don't throw it on Samuels' side". But throw that way, Manning did, and Tyree, having caught the fever of "I want it more" hung on, wrestled, clutched, and in what has to be the highlight of the season, came up with the ball.

David Tyree's catch put an exclamation point on a run by the Giants that tells the tale of what the team approach is all about. There was rookie Steve Smith. there was Boss, the tight end who seemed to come from nowhere and Toomer, and Burress and Bradshaw. Manning spread it around to the TEAM. And then there was the incredible play of the defensive line. They became Brady's worst nightmare. They rushed him, they smothered him, they hurried him, they rattled him, and by the end of the day, they had sacked him 5 times. Who wanted it more...the offensive line of the Pats or the defensive line of the Giants? That last gasp of Brady, and the sack that followed answered that question.

All along, the Giants have demonstrated this hunger...and in the last games of the season, they had the "eye of the tiger", the "fire in the belly" attitude that they wouldn't be denied. On the other hand, the Patriots have been called a "well oiled machine" and they have had a great run. But it seems to me that it's always been the Tom Brady show...not much about the offensive line, or the other players on defense.

The work ethic, the teamwork and the "we are in it together" attitude was the difference maker in this game. The Pats came in with their usual "another day at the office attitude" and the Giants came in as a hungry team.

But that catch...oh, that incredible catch! When Tyree came up with the ball, the camera caught his face. That look said "We want it more" and no doubt about it, he had the eye of the tiger.
