Davidson Stuns Georgetown

Curry Stages Another Remarkable Comeback

The Professor
It looked as if Davidson's dreams were coming to an end. They were going up against the powerhouse Georgetown. Davidson was down 38-27 at the end of the first half.

Then all of a sudden Davidson got hope from a familiar source. Stephen Curry took the team on his shoulders once again. Curry scored 25 points in the second half and Davidson stunned No. 2 seed Georgetown 74-70 on Sunday, sending the Wildcats to an improbable spot in the round of 16.

Curry had scored 30 points in the second half of Davidson's comeback win over Gonzaga in the first round. He put together an encore against the Hoyas. But, this time he did it against one of the toughest defenses. Georgetown allowed only 57.6 points per game and 37 percent shooting during the season. At first Georgetown's defense got the job done against Curry. They forced Curry to miss 10 of his first 12 shots. Then Davidson began to rally. Curry started to roll during Davidson's 16-2 run in the second half. After the game Davidson gathered in front of their band and sang Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline,".

Unfortunately, the game ended the college career of 7-foot-2 center Roy Hibbert. Hibbert has been one of Georgetown's main men in their rise in college basketball. Hibbert only managed to score 6 points and grab one rebound in the 16 minutes that he played.

Davidson will play No. 3 seed Wisconsin in the Midwest Regional in Detroit. Wisconsin won on Saturday against Kansas State.
