As I sipped my first coffee of the day
Now, the darkness hides the morning sky
I turn on a light to guide my way
I wait for the sunrise to peak through the night
I see my breath announcing the cold
My cuddly robe cannot keep the shivers away
But I sit anyway waiting for the daybreak to unfold
There is nothing as magical as the start of the day
All possibilities are there within reach
The day is still pure; no problems exist
No heartache to bear; no lessons to teach
As the sun strengthens in the sky
The magic of the daybreak will fade
But tomorrow morning I will stand guard again
These fleeting moments I would never trade

The day is still pure...I love that!
Magical!
great job; thanks for sharing ♥
Very well written! Very evocative!
very nice. Reminds me of when I was still in highschool and getting up early to head that way. And on the way I would always watch the sky because the sun was still coming up making the sky look so pretty. Once, I hear a radio dj say that the sky was God's canvas and the sun rise looked like a painting he was making. Kind of is I guess. When you see a good sun rise, I guess in a way, it sets the tone for the day. Nice poem :)
Some people see only the darkest night - I say sunrise - and my friend you said it well.
I loved this!
I was never a morning person until I moved to WNC. I love watching the sun creep over the hills and horses loping towards the barn for their daily hay. It's like natures DVD! Love this one Donna and the photo!
