Daylight Savings 2011 Poem

Chris Houston
As we head into Daylight Savings 2011 time once again, we all are reminded to fall back(not spring forward). This Daylight Savings thing once again signifies that fall and winter have arrived. As the hours pass in the coming weeks, it will be getting dark earlier and earlier. It works well for Halloween-but not so much for our drives home from work. Here is a Daylight Savings poem I have crafted(in the sleepy hours feeding my little one who is 2 months old). May we all endure Daylight Savings 2011 time with the same grace as we always do(although I'll be the guy complaining about seeing darkness arrive so quickly).
With that in mind, here is my Daylight Savings poem for 2011.

The winds of change fall back,
as Daylight Savings blows.
The approach of night gets quick,
off to winter it goes.

Leaves drop one by one,
Sweaters, jackets we need.
Rake in lieu of mow,
or sit inside to read.

Sleep an extra hour,
as clocks get set behind.
Never consolation,
for lack of bright sunshine.

The loss is never gain,
as the wind begins to chill.
Daylight Savings time,
is such a bitter pill.

If wishes were free,
I'd never change the time.
Changes in the season,
wouldn't be so quite unkind.

I'd fall forward fast,
I'd keep all the rays.
Daylight Savings would vanish,
And we'd have brighter days.
