Team USA Has the Highest Total Medal Count of 37 for the 2010 Winter Olympics

Correction: Yesterday's Recap Entry was titled Days 15 and 16. It should have read Days 14 and 15. Today, February 27, 2010 is Day 16 on the 2010 Winter Olympics Schedule. I apologize for that error.

Day 16

Speed Skating - Men's Team Pursuit Finals - The American team won a Silver Medal in the Men's Team Pursuit Finals. Brian Hansen, Chad Hedrick, Trevor Marsicano and Jonathan Kuck were 0.21 seconds behind Canada, the Gold Medal winners. The Netherlands in the Final B race made an Olympic record with a time of 3:39.95 and took the Bronze Medal.

Bobsleigh - Four-man - Heat 4 - Final - The American team brought home the Gold Medal. Steven Holcomb, Steve Mesler, Curtis Tomasevicz and Justin Olsen had a track record of 50.89 seconds at the Whistler Sliding Center. The German team won the Silver Medal and the Canadian team won the Bronze Medal. Two other American teams were entered in this race but were not fast enough to bring home a medal.

Team USA brought home one more Gold Medal and one more Silver Medal for a total medal count of 36. This breaks down on Saturday, Day 16, to 9 Gold Medals, 14 Silver Medals and 13 Bronze Medals.

The Figure Skating Gala provided spectacular entertainment with no stress for the participants or the viewers.

Day 17 - Last Day

Ice Hockey - Men's Gold Medal Game - U.S. vs. Canada - Canada won the Gold Medal in overtime after Zach Parise tied it up 2-2 with 24.4 seconds left in regulation. Canada's Sidney Crosby scored the winning goal in overtime. Ryan Miller is receiving the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the tournament. Finland received the Bronze Medal on the previous day by defeating Slovakia with a 5-3 score. The Americans were very subdued while receiving their Silver Medals.

This Silver Medal in Ice Hockey gives the United States the highest total medal count of 37 for the 2010 Winter Olympics. This breaks down to 9 Gold Medals, 15 Silver Medals and 13 Bronze Medals. Canada has the highest number of Gold Medals for the entire tournament - 14 Gold Medals, with a total medal count of 26 Medals to come in third. Germany comes in second with the second highest total medal count, behind the U.S., with 30 total Medals.
