Days of Our Lives: Matthew Ashford Returning to Days of Our Lives as Jack Devereaux This Summer
Jack is Back!
Since Melissa Reeves return to the role of Days or our Lives sweetheart , Jennifer Rose Horton Devereaux in November of 2010, Jack and Jennifer fans have been vocal about their desire for Jack follow his estranged wife back to Salem.
It appears their pleas have been answered. Matthew Ashford posted the news on his Facebook page that he would be returning to Days of our Lives and the daytime soap opera role for which he is most famous; redeemed scoundrel Jack Devereaux.
Given that Days of our Lives tapes at least two months ahead of what is aired onscreen, we are likely to see Jack return sometime this summer, if not sooner. There had been wind of a big casting secret at Days of our Lives for sometime'"perhaps Matthew Ashford's return is it!
Jacks return to Salem, will not only throw a spanner in the works of Jennifer's budding relationship with dashing medico Dr Daniel Jonas, but could also give legs to Abigail's desire to have her parents back together again.
After a disastrous end to Jennifer and Daniel's first date (she suffered a food allergy to the meal he prepared and ended up in the hospital emergency room) Abigail admitted to Jennifer that part of her wanted her parents together again.
Melanie Layton voiced similar sentiments to her father, about her parents being together (Daniel Jonas and Carly Manning), which lays the groundwork for the two twenty-something's to collude in keeping Daniel and Jennifer apart and pushing their parents into relationships.
This development would give some credibility to the forced argument scene between Abigail and Melanie at the hospital when Abigail found out her mother had been admitted. Abigail told Melanie that her mothers' hospitalization was the result of Daniel putting the moves on Jennifer, not an allergy.
Given Daniels' predilection for falling for the women he treats, Melanie just may get her way, as Carly's prescription med addiction continues to spiral out of control. Dr Manning has already taken the wrong pills once; it's not a big leap for Carly to suffer a major medical emergency and for Dr Jonas to ride in to the rescue.
This of course is all pure supposition, and only time will tell what Days of our Lives writers have install for long-time fan favorites, supercouple Jack and Jennifer.
