Daytime Soap Star Shell Kepler Dies at 49

Chris Knight
Actress Shell Kepler, who appeared on the daytime opera show General Hospital as character "Nurse Amy Vining" for over 20 years, died on Feb. 1 due to renal failure. Kepler, 49, was admitted into the Oregon Health and Sciences University and passed away due to renal failure/kidney failure. Renal failure is a situation in the body in which the kidneys fail to function. Her passing away could have been due to other medical related problems as well. She was married and divorced twice - and will be survived by her brother Fred.

She had an incredible acting career, very ambitious, and well-rounded as an individual. Shell Kepler was born and raised in California, however, she moved to the state of California in the sixth grade. She started going to work early, as she noticed that the southern accent wasn't a big hit with the people around her. She decided to get rid of the southern accent so that she could be a successful actress.

She was inspired at the age of two years old after watching the old classic "The Wizard of Oz". She appeared in the "Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" - located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She also appeared in the Sound of Music - a very well-known play. She was also very athletic. Despite her quietness and gangly figure - she happened to top three California track records during a physical fitness assessment!

Shell Kepler stared in the show General Hospital, the highly popular soap opera, for almost 20 years. She beat out over 250 people in the audition to get the job of "Nurse Amy". She also appeared on the popular sit-com "Three's Company" and even had a full-featured film in the movie "homework". She always wanted to pursue a great career in music, however, it never panned out the way she wanted to. She also wanted a great marriage with "one kid", however, that didn't work out as she was married and divorced twice - she was only survived by her younger brother Jeff.

Afterwards, she would depart from her TV career and dedicated herself to helping others; she would be involved with charities and fundraising. She happened to be a successful business woman as well, stating that her business had resulted in over 20 million dollars in sales. Shell Kepler marketed clothes on the Home Shopping Club that resulted in these incredible sales. She was an incredible woman, who made a great impact on this world - but also left way too soon. She led an incredible life that will hopefully inspire others.

She is also survived by her father and brother both named Fred. Shell was admitted to OSHU on January 28th. She died peacefully with her brother and a boyfriend by her bedside. I am the boyfriend.

Gosh, my apologies - Correction: She was not born in California - but spent a great deal of her childhood there. She was actually born in Painesville, Ohio - and she only has one brother by the name of Fred.

    - These will be changed A.S.A.P

I'm so shocked and sad by her loss. May she rest in peace. God bless her and my condolences to her family and friends...

Does she have two brothers? This article mentions Fred and Jeff...

It's stated that she passed on due to kidney failure...that she was admitted on Feb. 1st and also passed away on this day...Was she ill for a while before this?
