There are a few drivers that stand out from the NASCAR crowd. Kevin Harvick, Jimmy Johnson and Karl Edwards are three of those drivers.
Kevin Harvick, fondly known as Happy Harvick, was born in Bakersfield, California on December 8, 1978. Kevin is married to Delana and lives in North Carolina. Driving the #29 car to become one of NASCAR's top drivers, Kevin loves to race. Spending time on every race track possible, whether its truck, go carts or race cars, he has proved himself to be quite a capable driver. Kevin drove to fourth place in the Sprint Cup Series of 208. This proves him to be serious contention for the Daytona 500. Chosen by Dale Earnhardt, Sr., this NASCAR legend saw a winner in Kevin Harvick. Known for his temper, Kevin brings an old fashioned NASCAR attitude to the track. However, gone is the day when fighting was an every day part of NASCAR racing. Kevin has learned to think before he reacts and respect the relationship he has with his sponsors. I will admit though, that a little attitude makes for a better race!
Jimmy Johnson rolls to the finish line in a near effortless fashion. Born in El Cajon, California, on September 17, 1975, Jimmy ran his first race at the ripe old age of five. Sitting on a 50cc motorcycle, Jimmy crossed his first finish line as race winner; and he has not stopped yet. Currently holding the title of NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion, Jimmy drove the #48 car to victory lane in 2008. He is the second NASCAR driver to that has won the Sprint Cup three years in a row. The only other driver to win this coveted title is Cale Yarborough. Cale pulled it off in 1976, 1977 and again in 1978.
The third driver worth mentioning is Carl Edwards. Known as Flipper for his trademark flip of the window frame of his car after each win, Carl was born in Columbia, Missouri on August 15, 1979. And girls this talented fellow is still SINGLE! It has only taken Carl five years to earn his reputation on the race track. He is, without a doubt, one of NASCAR'S strongest competitors, and yes, my personal favorite to win.
Those of you familiar with NASCAR will find humor in the fact that Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards are mentioned here, together. Racing these two drivers side-by-side definitely makes for a great race. Strong competitors, and both very capable drivers, each is capable of taking Daytona 500 home.
