DDF Sulfur Therapeutic Mask: An Acne Treatment Review

The Pen
When I was a teenager I was always afraid of getting bad acne, so I always took really good care of it. Now that I'm in my early 20s I've totally slacked off. I rarely exfoliate, I barely use face masks, and sometimes I commit the ultimate sin of sleeping in my makeup which is just gross. Even with my neglect, for the most part, my skin has stayed in fairly decent shape.

But as soon as the weather began to heat up this summer I noticed a change in my skin. A month ago it began to get oilier, and then a couple of weeks later my pores began to look huge & fine bumps started cropping up onto my cheeks, and to make it worst last week I got about 4 or 5 huge bumps in random spots on my face.

Those huge zits were the last straw, so I went to Sephora to find a solution to make my skin clear again. Even though I'd never tried any DDF products, a salesperson recommended that I try the DDF Sulfur Therapeutic Mask because it would help with my acne, so I decided to try it.

The DDF Sulfur Therapeutic Mask comes in a very simple jar but it's expensive, a 4oz jar costs $38. It contains water, bentonite, propylene glycol, talc, kaolin, titanium dioxide, PVP, diazollidinyl urea, glycerine, fragrance, methylparaben, aloe leaf extract, sodium PCA, allantoin, propylparaben, sweet almond oil, & benzyl alchohol. And of course the active ingredient sulfur.

DDF claims that the Sulfur Mask can be used as a mask or a spot treatment, and that the sulfur & purified clay will "absorb oil, help keep pores clear, and clears blemishes."

I used the mask for the first time a couple of nights ago. It's a pale green shade and it does smell like sulfur but there's also another fragrance added so the smell isn't overwhelming. When I applied it to my face, I was surprised at how moist it was which made it easy to spread onto my skin.

Other masks in the past have been too drying, but as the Sulfur Therapeutic Mask dried I was glad to find that my face didn't feel stiff and dried out or irritated, even though I left it on for almost an hour. Once I rinsed the mask I was so pleased with how my face looked, though it did smell like sulfur.

In less than an hour all the pimples were less inflamed, so they looked less red and weren't as large or painful. The fine bumps that I'd gotten on my cheeks pretty much disappeared or reduced in size so much that I couldn't notice them anymore, and my pores no longer looked large and in charge. And overall, my skin just looked brighter, clearer, and it still felt balanced, I don't even think I needed to use moisturizer after using this DDF Sulfur Therapeutic Mask.

The next day my skin still smelled slightly like sulfur when I washed it, but it looked better than it had in months, it was glowing - not oily, and even though I still had those random zits, I didn't even care, because, overall, my skin looked good.

Now that it's been two days, my pimples are still there but they are healing faster than they normally would and they aren't inflamed or painful.

In The End...

I love the DDF Therapeutic Sulfur Mask. I've tried other clay masks and DDF's has the smoothest & finest texture, so it felt gentle and a little goes a long way.

I would recommend it if you want a gentle, non-drying mask or a spot treatment to help with treating mild acne, unclogging pores, and minimizing oiliness. It's really good, I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
