De La Hoya Vs. Pacquiao: No Match?

Leo Reyes
Everyone knows that Oscar de la Hoya has the advantage in height, reach and built over the much smaller Manny Paquiao in a boxing fight to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 6, 2008. But why are they pushing Manny Pacquiao to fight de la Hoya for the welterweight category when Pacquiao is only a lightweight?

The answer, as everyone knows, is money. Or better still, the greed for money. Most boxing experts will tell you that de la Hoya is just too big for Pacquiao and his chances of winning the fight is remote.

This forthcoming boxing event may be compared to the biblical fight of David and Goliath where David won by using his wits and by being smart. That is of course posible but what if Pacquiao, by sheer de la Hoya's power and built, is bitten to death by de la Hoya? The world will surely condemn the boxing promoters and the regulators.

On the other hand, if Pacquiao wins, it would be an exeptional feat for the Filipino boxing icon and the world will recogninze him as the greatest boxer of his time.
