These Waffles Are Super Good and Super Healthy

One meal that I wanted to make simple was breakfast. The morning is a time that my son often plays happily and has his half hour of television that he gets to watch. In the morning I use the time that my son is occupied happily playing and such to get a lot of work done. Saving time on breakfast gives me more time to work in the morning, and making more time for me to not have to work in the afternoon. I have been trying a few different things at breakfast time that are healthy and simple for my son. One of these things have been frozen waffles, more specifically De Wafekbakkers Blueberry All Natural Organic Whole Grain Spelt Waffles. I was so excited when I saw these waffles because they were organic and made of spelt.

I have not been eating spelt for too long but since I discovered it I can't get enough of it. It is healthy like whole wheat but it doesn't have the heartiness in taste and texture that comes with whole wheat. It is higher in protein and is easier to digest than whole wheat and has a wonderful nutty taste. Previously I have had Organic Spelt Hamburger Buns, Organic Spelt English Muffins, Organic Spelt Spaghetti and Organic Spelt Flakes Cereal and I loved them. My son enjoyed these spelt food items as well and he also enjoyed waffles so I thought that these would be a great breakfast for him. I could make them in the toaster in a matter of minutes and he would have a fun and healthy breakfast. He had the De Wafekbakkers Blueberry All Natural Organic Whole Grain Spelt Waffles plain or with some applesauce on the side. They were so good all by themselves that they didn't need a sweetener. I wondered what sweeteners they had in them.

The ingredients of these waffles are organic whole grain spelt, organic whole wheat flour, organic evaporated cane juice, organic egg whites, water, organic canola oil or organic soybean oil, fructan, organic soy flour, organic bluberries, natural blueberry flavor, soy lecithin, salt, whey protein concentrate, natural butter flavor, leavening and xanthan gum. I really did not find these ingredients to be all that bad. Most of the items were organic and were standard for healthy frozen waffles. I was surprised to see that De Wafekbakkers Blueberry All Natural Organic Whole Grain Spelt Waffles listed whole wheat flour as its second ingredient because I didn't think that they tasted hearty at all. After reviewing the ingredients I wondered how the nutrition facts looked.

I was surprised to see that the nutrition facts were based on three waffles. This would make the box last only for three servings. In three De Wafekbakkers Blueberry All Natural Organic Whole Grain Spelt Waffles there is two hundred calories with ninety calories from fat. There is one hundred and twenty milligrams of sodium in every serving as well as twenty eight carbohydrates, three grams of fiber, thirteen grams of sugars and four grams of protein. In the minerals and vitamins section of the nutrition facts it was listed that iron had four percent. The nutrition facts looked good to me.

I am not crazy about the idea of my son eating only frozen waffles at breakfast time. We rarely have frozen foods honestly but I happen to be in the frozen food section and stumbled upon De Wafekbakkers Blueberry All Natural Organic Whole Grain Spelt Waffles. Prior to them I was making him homemade banana muffins. The box only cost a dollar and fifty cents and so I thought that it was a great deal. I know that we will be getting these waffles again. I would recommend for anyone to give them a try and if waffles aren't your thing then try some
