Dead Birds Reported by Residents in Southern Illinois

Tammy Lee Morris
Dead birds falling from the sky have made headlines in Arkansas, Kentucky and Louisiana, but residents around Marion, Illinois have also found dead birds in recent days. A cluster of households in the same family that living close together in rural Marion reported finding dead birds in their yards around the same time as the Beebe, AR dead birds.

While these findings have not made national news, they have sparked interest in my own community. The three households are family members of mine and while one aunt found dead birds earlier in December, my parents and uncle found dozens of dead birds during the last week of December.

My aunt stated that after finding the birds in her yard in early December, she contacted local wildlife authorities and was told that the birds had most likely been poisoned. While it is possible (this is a farming community and birds can be a nuisance for farmers who respond by putting out poisons), it makes you wonder when there have been more widespread reports of dead birds in other locations.

Speculation has been high that the dead birds are connected to the New Madrid Seismic Zone, which southern Illinois sits directly on. Another reporting of dead birds came from Gilbertsville, KY which is located approximately 80 miles from Marion.

While there is no way of knowing if these events are connected or if they have anything to do with an impending earthquake along the New Madrid fault, they do raise questions about the potential for natural disaster. Residents should indeed be aware of the history of the area of the New Madrid fault and be prepared for possible earthquakes.

The United States Geological Survey published a report in August 2009 regarding the continuing concern about a devastating earthquake in the New Madrid Seismic Zone. Such an earthquake would most likely affect the cities of St. Louis, MO, Memphis, TN and Little Rock, AR as well as surrounding areas.

Regardless, the dead birds cropping up in locations like Marion, IL have residents nervous and concerned.

Okay.... it has nothing to do with the freakin oil spill, fireworks, chemicals, bad weather (to crimefighter).... yes you are right in some areas.. I just really hope you were talking about global weather. The tectonic plates are shifting.... not DUE TO THE FREAKIN OIL SPILL. That would be a PIN PRICK IN THE EARTH. LORD.... Anyways. if it were BP then explain sweden and new zealand... I think it's ironic that ALLLLL of the dead birds and fish are located near fault lines. With the plates shifting this could stress the hell out of them... and what's to say the New Madrid doesn't wake up after it's 200 year nap because of it? I live in Memphis Tn and I believe it's coming if you google seismic activity near memphis, tn you'll see all the earthquakes and tremors that happen on a daily basis right on top of New Madrid. The birds and fish die in and around that radius????? HMMMMMMMMMMM!!! I've noticed there's activity of either an earthquake or tremor in the

It could be from the US oil spill. or the chemicals they sprayed on the oil to break it up. Water currents could carry this mess to every continent. Another possibility is the shift of the magnetic north pole. Some have even suggested a test of a Star Wars defense system that has
caused this. What would cause internal injuries and blood clots in birds? I do remember when I first saw the film of the oil spill, my first thought was, Revelation 8:8. God help us all. When animals start dying, humans are probably next.

I'm a native Illinoisan myself. Your article was indirectly referenced in an interesting article at BlogCritics (org), an online magazine.

Interesting analysis and I'll give you that is could be an earthquake on the way but with the Veterinary reports from Sweden where more dead birds were found, my logic leads me to believe that there is more than an earthquake afoot. I think it is more likely that a new super weapon is being tested but that is the conspiracy theorist in me ;)

Yeah but if their storing all this Phosgene gas down in tunnels in Pine Bluff Ark. Thhen who knows what could be happening if their leaking down there and gases being released through faults.
