DEAD PRESIDENTS- All About the Benjamins Baby!!!

AJ WOODSON
This may be one of those things that I just take too serious. It wouldn't be the first. But it's to the point now, that young people repeat what they hear in a song whether it's correct or not. I'm saying if you are going to talk about wanting or having dead presidents, you should at least know what you are talking about.

I wonder if the youth and most rappers realize when they say they want the dead presidents that Benjamin Franklin never ran and never was President of the United States. He was President of the Executive Council of Pennsylvania but most young people, most people period for that matter wouldn't know anything about that. That sure isn't want they mean when they say they want dead presidents. Do you know how many youngsters actually think Ben Franklin was a president because of this terminology they heard in a rap record!

I'm out for Dead Presidents to represent me - Dead Presidents Pt 1- Jay Z

Merriam-Webster's Collegiate® Dictionary, Eleventh Edition does define dead presidents as a noun plural (1944) slang: U.S. money in the form of bills; specifically: DOLLARS

But when I listen to rap records they're talking about 100 dollar bills. When I watch rap videos, and they're rapping about dead presidents images of the $100 always graces the screen. I was in a club recently and this wanna-be balla, had a large wad of cash in his hand trying to impress this female. The top of the knot was a 20 dollar bill and she replied, "Am I suppose to be impressed. You need more money that that to impress me- You got to have them dead presidents, some franklins..."
And we be hoppin it up and choppin it up and rockin it up
To tens, twenties, fifties, and hundreds to make our profits bro
Roll through the town talking sh*t, get your wig split
Especially when f*#king with another n*ggas divendends
I mean them George Washington,
them Lincoln, Hamilton, Jefferson, Grant, Ben FranklinsDead President (from the album 99 Ways To Die)- Master P

To set the record straight, Benjamin Franklin is considered a founding father, a U.S. statesman, inventor, diplomat, librarian and a printer but he was never a United State President. So next time you say you want some dead presidents, and you actually want some hundreds be specific before someone hands you a hand full of ones and fives, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln are after all dead presidents.
