Dead Sexy by Tate Hallaway: A Book Review

Chelsi
Dead Sexy is the second book by Tate Hallaway in the Garnet Lacey series and the sequel to Tall, Dark, and Dead. After surviving attacks from the Vatican witch hunters in the first book, Garnet and Sebastian are growing together in their new relationship, even though she is harboring a pretty big secret. Though her relationship with Sebastian, the very highly attractive alchemist-vampire, is growing stronger every day, she hasn't told him one teensy detail. She is hiding her ex-lover, and vampire, in her basement without telling Sebastian. But now someone is unleashing an army of zombies, her good friend William, she's pretty sure, has been brainwashed, and an FBI agent is looking for her in regards to the murder of a group of Vatican witch hunters -- the same Vatican witch hunters that killed her coven almost a year prior.

Garnet Lacey, in moments of panic, calls upon some strange favors from some strange friends, and often times finds herself in more trouble than when she started. At least she always has Sebastian, her witch turned vampire boyfriend on her side to help fight off the attacks of the paranormal -- or does she? Sebastian is bound to eventually find out that Daniel Parrish, her ex boyfriend and fellow vampire, has been living in her basement since the night he thought he ran him out of town. Will Sebastian still be on her side after she betrays him like that, with a secret so big? Or will he turn on her like the rest of them?

In Dead Sexy, Garnet is racing against time as all of the obstacles stack up against her, and she's left wondering how she gets herself into these situations. But with her strong magical powers, the goddess still living within her, and some really good friends, she manages to put up a pretty good fight against all odds.

Dead Sexy was another great read from Tate Hallaway. Garnet's character never falters as she takes on one obstacle after another, in attempt to keep herself, and her friends, alive. Garnet is quickly becoming one of my favorite fictional characters with her witty humor and seriously kick-butt attitude. Hallaway had me on the edge of my seat one minute, and laughing the next. Whether she's fighting with her current vampire boyfriend, or fighting off zombies in her backyard, there's always a bit of humor tucked in there somewhere between the lines. Besides, Sebastian is one hot vampire.
